In mrgoubople1's original poll, there were a ton of great nickname suggestions. Several posters had suggested a revised poll that includes all of the ideas. So here it is. We all know Feigen's reading this (Hi John!), so this is our chance to influence Houston for the next twenty, thirty years.
Clutch City of course. Too bad we couldnt raise a couple of hunred mil to get the naming rights! We could have negotiated a suite into the deal and Clutchcity members could take turns using it! Damn what a dream. BTW shouldn't the new arena sell a milk shake and call it the "Dream Shake" in honor of Dream? Just a thought.
That's good. If we really wanted to pay homage to the Dream, though, and we wanted to keep it with Toyota, how about the "Dreamcenter"? That's not half-bad. You could even call it the "Toyota Dreamcenter", and tie in promotions with Toyota. (Toyota Dream Car, there can be a Toyota Dream Sweepstakes, etc.) And think of all the fan signs! "Dreamcenter on Sportscenter - NEXT" )
Agreed. It's all about the connotations. A garage is dark and greasy, filled with dirt and clutter and grime. Now a showroom. That's just smooth.
The showroom of course. After all, TC will have a damn truck on display in the seating bowl. You DONT have a vehicle on display in a GARAGE. You have it on display in a SHOWROOM.
My "other" vote is for TC or the basketball arena. Maybe the Summit. I don't want to use a nickname and I certainly don't want to use its endorsement name. Probably, I'll call it TC while typing and the basketball arena in speech.
Are the Yankees living in the past when they call Yankee Stadium "The House that Ruth Built"? Without Dream, we never would have won a ring, much less two, and Houstoninas would never have supported the Rockets the way that we do, including getting that stadium built. I don't live in the past, but I do know where I'm from, sucka.
We decided to build that Arena before most of us had even heard of Ming. Why are you so interested in snuffing out our history?
the pad sounds pretty cool, though it sounds a litte more like a teenage hangout place. i think the summit should be retired so we can have new beginnings. the garage sounds good too.
Because Ming wasn't here when it was built. Dream(and Jeff) is the reason why the rockets are still in town. Houston is a basketball town because of Dream.
