There have been a lot of "best" movie threads recently. What are some movies you've seen that were good, but didn't last too long (sorry, Showgirls doesn't count)?

If anyone hasn't seen Diggstown with James Woods and Louis Gossett Jr., it's worth a rental.

Love Jones was a really good movie with Larenz Tate and Nia Long.

Verse -- The Red Violin was excellent!! I loved that movie!! It's too bad it didn't get more run in the media, etc., b/c it's among the best movies I've ever seen.

My favorite movie ever is Gattaca. It didn't do well in the theaters, and I never heard any hype about it, but it never fails to inspire me to strive for greatness.

mc mark - The Cook... ugh! "Try the c*ck. It's delicious." Some of the worst lines of all time came from that film. Plus, that scene in the back of that putrid fish truck. Ick, but I digress.

Six Degrees of Separation - Will Smith was amazing.
The Razor's Edge - really interesting film with a surprising performance by Bill Murray
Barcelona - very cool film by the director of Metropolitan which is also very good.

Two documentaries worth every penny of the rental:

Trekkies - absolutely hilarious
Unzipped - about fashion designer Isaac Misrahy - hysterical.

Pi

This is the movie in the black movie cover with the Pi symbol on it that you see in the Blockbuster "New Release" section.

Weirdest movie I've ever seen (not as weird as 2001, but close), but very, very good, imo. . . but it's too weird for lots of people.

A movie that I always liked but no one ever agreed with me about is The Ref with Dennis Leary and Kevin Spacey. I dont know, i guess i get a kick out of dysfunctional families during the christmas time, reminds me of my family. [IMG]

If you get a chance to see Dancer in the Dark w/ Bjork... do it. It's great.

Vengeance, Pi was a sundance film a few years ago.

Mainstream America hasn't recognized the greatness of Pedro Almadovar, but if you see any of his films you'll be better for it.

Oh yeah, Lovers on the Bridge was pretty good. But then again, Juliette Binoche is hot. [IMG]

"Run Lola Run". A brilliant German film. Puts other "thrillers" to shame.

Achebe -- Yeah, Pi was runner-up or something for best film of that festival. It's hard to find, but pithemovie.com is still up.
