A little off topic but I've noticed people on low carb diets tend to have some foul smelling breath. Why is that?
Ottos? Drexlers? Are you HIGH??????????? Williams Brothers Smokehouse in Acres Homes puts all other Houston Barbecue joints to shame!!!!!!!!!!!
I've noticed in general that overweight people have bad breath. I guess it makes sense to a degree. If they are negligent enough to let their body go, then certainly they are negligent enough to let their breath go.
It's either because they didn't brush their teeth this morning, or becasue it's a product of burning fat. I don't know any more than that, but bad breath means the diet is working.
Low-Carb Diets Can Cause Bad Breath THURSDAY, May 13 (HealthDayNews) -- The Atkins diet might chase away more than just unwanted pounds -- it could lead to bad breath that chases away your friends. But there are ways to battle halitosis caused by low-carb dieting, says the Academy of General Dentistry. Low-carb diets work by getting the body to burn stored fat as fuel rather than carbohydrates. As that fat burns, chemicals known as ketones build up in the body. They are released through the breath and urine, and they can be smelly. The types of food ingested also play a role, academy spokesman Dr. Bruce DeGinder said in a prepared statement. "Most cases of bad breath originate from the breakdown of food particles that produce sulfur compounds, and from bacteria on the gums and tongue," DeGinder said. "High protein foods can produce more sulfur compounds, especially overnight on the surface of the tongue when saliva production is diminished." To combat this bad breath, the academy suggests that dieters: Drink plenty of water to wash away germs in the mouth. Chew sugarless gum or parsley. Keep a toothbrush handy and brush after every meal. And if the bad breath persists, see a doctor. Halitosis can be a sign of a more serious condition, such as diabetes. --Dennis Thompson SOURCES: Academy of General Dentistry, news release, May 1, 2004 Copyright © 2004 ScoutNews, LLC. Boubon Chicken from those Cajun places in the mall. Thats basically boiled chicken right? The one at the Galleria claims it to be "low fat", but bourbon chicken taste a little sweet, so it might have some sugar. Anyways, my point is that its yummy, high in protien and probably low in fat and maybe low carb as well.
Woah, woah what!? Sorry, off topic, but there's still a Mission Burritos??? I thought they were closed down. I went to two locations and they were both closed down. Where's a mission?
Trader Jorge "I've noticed in general that overweight people have bad breath. I guess it makes sense to a degree. Yes, you are right...all my fellow 300 pounders and I are that way because we are weak willed sorry excuses for human beings. I guess this fits in with the Republican theory...if there is something wrong...pull yourself up by your bootstraps...
I'm not surprised. The "ketone bodies" are produced when your body utilizes an alternate metabolic pathway. This burns stored fat when there are no carbohydrates to use as an alternative. Before all this Atkins diet business, it was thought to be the body's last resort in case of starvation. It has these smell effects, as well as the danger of lowering your blood pH. That's why Atkins dieters have to keep a close eye on it. You might notice smells like "chemicals" or nail polish remover. Of course high protein foods have more sulfur. The other two types of metabolites - fats/oils and carbs - do not contain sulfur. Any sulfur ingested would have to be from a food additive, and I doubt you'd get much that way. There are certainly sulfur-containing amino acids in protein, though. You can always cover up the breath with sugar-free mints. This is yet another reason for me to avoid that kind of diet and stick with something more traditional, plus lots of exercise. Someone else can try that low-carb experiment. -Isabel (mouth full of chex mix )
Wouldn't mind getting down to middleweight from super middleweight, and actually I'd move down to 154 if I could but I'd likely have to give up beer and certainly will not. But the short answer is no. So add it to your dossier.

Agreed. __________________ I, personally, can't wait until your metabolism slows down Mr. Drapg...so you can enjoy life as a fat lazy sloth.
O.k I can't edit...so I apologize..... I have been fat all my adult life...and I have dieted a considerable amount...maybe I am weak willed...but I haven't been on the good side of 300 lbs in years....and I promise that I care about my appearance and my breath...and maybe its wrong...but I don't consider skinny people to be automatically more moral and virtuous than I am.
how's this for a blanket statement?: if you go on a low carb diet you're a lazy piece of crap and a complete douchebag.
