I recently ditched my 360/HD-DVD player, and purchased a PS3. So I've got that and a fancy 1080P LCD...now I just need to know what the best options are for blu-ray movies. I've read that MI:3, Ice Age, and Superman Returns all look excellent. Any others that I should check out to really show off my new setup? Also, does anyone use Netflix for blu-ray? I'm wondering if they have a limited selection which means long waits to receive your movies, or are they available fairly quickly?
Pirates of the Carribbean 3 looks amazing!! The best is Planet Earth. You have to see it to believe it.
Awesome...I concurr with MI:3. Superman Returns was also very good...I recently bought DIE Hard IV but haven't seen it...Matt of fact, I have bought a bunch of movies, but haven't seen them all...
Fourtheded...........wife bought me Planet Earth. Ridiculous. We bought a 1080P plasma for the bedroom, and we never go to the media room anymore.
There was this demo at Worst Buy with ICE AGE. I vote for this one as the best BLU-RAY movie EVERY. CLEAR AS GLASS. SHARP. BRIGHT.
Casino Royale Shoot Em Up Layer Cake Planet Earth These are just a few of the better looking ones IMO.
No Country For Old Men is out today for BluRay I believe. I don't have a player, but that'll be one of the first I buy when I do.
There are tons of great looking Blu-ray titles available, but here are some of the best in terms of category: Animated - Ratatouille TV Show - Lost: The Complete Third Season Live Action Film - Spider-Man 2 & 3 Concert - Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City All of the aforementioned titles also have great lossless/uncompressed audio.
I haven't heard much about delays, but I have heard that sometimes DVDs get shipped instead of blu-rays.
How much of a difference is there in watching a movie on blu-ray vs. HBO HD? I have never seen a blu-ray.
I must jump in and join the crowd in insisting on Planet Earth. I watched it on blu ray on my friends' 1080p plasma after the superbowl. It is the the most beautiful video footage I have ever seen at any place. Period. Nothing has ever given me such desire for a HD set.
