I'm sitting here watching The Thing and was thinking about all of the great movies that John Carpenter has made. What's your favorite?

I haven't seen too many but Halloween is one of my favorite horror movies, a definite classic. And Big Trouble is loads of fun...a cult classic.

Mmmmm...I'm gonna have to give the edge to Big Trouble; that's a movie I could watch whenever it comes on tv.

It's kind of a cheesy movie, but there's just something about "They Live" for me.

I don't know if it's the massively long fight scene or the kick ass and chew bubblegum line or what, but even though Halloween and some of the others are probably better movies, I'm going with "They Live" as my favorite and, therefore, best.

The Thing. I like movies that keep you guessing and this one had it all the way to the end. Did Blair really die? Is MacReady or Childs infected?

    Escape from New York
    Halloween

The Thing is his best constructed film, one of my all time favorites.

Always liked They Live a lot just like the majority of his 70's 80's films.

I like it, but it's not my favorite Carpenter flick.

My fav would probly be the thing. But there are so many Carpenter flicks I adore. I haven't seen assault on 13, didn't know he did it. Saw the remake recently and that one was pretty boring.

And lol at vampires being on the list. :D

Definitely Big Trouble is his best, followed by Escape From New York, and then The Thing.

That movie was messed up and a really weird thing happened to us at the theater. In the scene as the movie is starting and he is watching it and freaking out, the projector went out... I half expected to walk out and see people killing each other...

Weird. This exact same thread is over on DVDTalk.

I think Halloween is his best film. Big Trouble is the most fun.

Big Trouble (one of those shows I can watch many times)

The Thing (although I still enjoy the James Arnes version)
Escape from NY (gotta love the Snake)

I voted for Halloween, but I also like Starman. The Thing was entertaining enough, but it was a remake.
