I just bought an iPod touch since my old 60GB 5G iPod Video screen failed on me. I opened up my bookbag the other day only to find out that the screen was completely messed up, only showing random lines in the color spectrum (looking to sell it, contact me if interested, everything works except screen). So now that I'm getting an iPod touch, I was wondering what are the best apps available? Which ones do you guys use and like the best? Also, I'm looking for a fuel mpg app so if you know of a good one that would be great.
I use the following: Pandora (Internet Radio) Shazam (HIGHLY recommended, it listens to any song and finds the name for you and lists it) Wikipanion Bank of America app Myspace Facebook Air Sharing (haven't used this yet though) Games: Cube Runner Firedrop This is all free stuff. I don't know about the ones that cost money. I ain't payin for that ****!!!!
This damn phone has been a lifesaver in keeping me sane during all this. These are must have IMO. Also, surprisingly, AOL Radio is damn impressive. Kind of like a satellite radio lite. Lots of good options/choices. In addition, Now Playing is pretty sweet. Uses the phone's 'locator' to get a list of theaters in your area and gives reviews, synopsis and theater times for movies out now. Even trailers and upcoming movies. Stanza is awesome if you're a reader. It's a free e-reader type program, that will load books and has access to a library of free downloads programed in. There's a ton of free games, and pretty obvious stuff like poker, blackjack and some good ol' Moonlight Mahjong. I'll have to look at what I've downloaded and find some other good ones for you later.
I really love Tap-Tap...It's sort of like Guitar Hero for your iPhone...It's probably one of the best free apps out there I use ESPN a lot (Web App) and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader is pretty fun and hard (have to buy) I also play Hearts, Free Cell, Poker and Solitaire a lot...
Does pandora and AOL radio work for Ipod Touch? We don't have phone capabilities however it does come with wifi. Thanks
AOL Radio - Listening to 610 from Boston is great. Bloomberg - stocks Now Playing - movies Epocrates - good for people in health care field Eponyms- see above Facebook MySpace NY Times IGN Reviews Shazam Sportacular - Sports scores, news, standings, etc... Wikipanion
Alright, thanks guys. I spent like 3 hours browsing the App Store last night and found a lot of these apps you all were talking about and downloaded them. Any rare/new ones that most people don't know about that you really like?
Urbanspoon rocks when you're not sure about food, eventfull is interesting to keep in touch with what comes to town, and the Discovery tank game is pretty fun.
Free apps (not mentioned before): Mobile News Now Playing Yellow Pages Mobile White Pages CW39 Houston Traffic (traffic webcam views) Simplify (remote tunes apps) Wedict (dictionary) Units Aurora Feint NES (jailbreak only) BossTools (jailbreak only) Quake (jailbreak only) Cycorder (jailbreak only)
I just bought an iphone last night and was wondering if I can just download these apps straight to the phone or do I connect through itunes? I have Tmobile and want to make sure everything is in order before I put my sim card in. Is there anything I need to worry about or should I be good to go? The phone is unlocked by the way.
You can do either. When you connect with iTunes to sync and back up all your data, it'll download it to your iTunes. Be careful being with TMobile, because I was at the Apple Store today and someone had a iPhone and unlocked it to use for TMobile and had problems with it. They told them that they can't do anything because they changed it to TMobile. So, if anything goes wrong with your phone, they won't be able to fix or replace it. What I'm thinking is that it's more likely that they WON'T fix it or replace it because they changed it to TMobile.
Thanks for the suggestions, couple questions though. Can you jailbreak the new (2G) iPod touch yet? And what are the disadvantages of jailbreaking (if any)?
you mention jailbreak apps...and u dont speak of winterboard...iphonemodem...! hehe intelliscreen is cool but im still debating if its worth the money after the 10 day trial.
Free Apps I frequently use: Wikipanion Facebook (it's flawed, but good enough... the much needed update should be released soon) AP Mobile News SportsTap (the best sports app I've run into so far) AOL Radio Shazam Now Playing AirSharing (this is a MUST have) The only App I've paid for: Texas Hold 'Em (by Apple). No regrets on this one.
nope the 2G iPod cannot be jailbroken yet as Apple has fixed a hardware loophole that allowed the 1G ipod to be jailbroken. It is unclear whether they will find a way to jailbreak it but it's going to take some time if they do. Best apps IMO that are free iProcastinate AOL Radio Pandora GraphCalc Cube Runner Best Games on the APP STORE Monkey Ball Real Soccer 09
