I finally came over to the dark side yesterday and got an iPhone. I have to admit that I'm quite impressed with it. So what do you guys (and gals) think are some of the best iPhone apps?

wow, cool...is that a free one? My favorite apps are (all free btw): - AOL Radio - you can get music from all over the world of any genre and even get sports talk! - Scribble - sketch pad for those who like to draw - Facebook - great to easily view FB but chat function doesn't work - Fring - chat tool that merges AIM, Messenges, Gmail chat, skype - Sportacular - live sports scores, stats, standings, etc. - iWant - lists restaurants, movies, hospitals, retail, etc. within a radius of where you are - Remote - Lets you control you itunes through your iphone.
okay that was cool, is that from the legend of zelda? You need a twitter iphone app... I think it's called Twinkle
You don't twitter? www.twitter.com It's sort of like an instant messaging, blogging, social networking thing. It becomes addicting.
I like shazam and i think app in the video is the ocarina app its 99 cents i also like the all the 'Papi' games i like the new weather channel app and one of the various 'movies' apps are nice to find whats playing nearby and when
There are so many, and so many good ones, that really it's just up to what you're into. That Ocarina app does look cool. Voodoopope sent me a link to some youtube demos today and it seems interesting at least. Without knowing your preference, I'll just list a few of my favorites. Pandora is a must. Free, and made of win. Being a long time fan of the desktop app, I love Xplane. It's not a game per say, but if you like Flight sims, this one puts the very best in a reduced version on your iphone and is just cool. IF you like flight sims. NowPlaying is a good Movie reference app, telling you theatres in your area, movie times, shows trailers, etc. Very good. If you like Poker, Texas Holdem by Apple is good enough. Very flashy, if a bit predictable at times. Can play with other iphones on a wifi net. For a quick diversion of poker, it's fun. Enigmo is a very original award winning game/puzzle that is worth checking out. I just bought "Strategic Assault" which is an RTS in the vein of Command and Conquer, but simpler. It's pretty fun for a while, and gets challenging. It might wear out it's coolness in a while, I dunno, but for now its impressive and fun. If you're a guitar player, I recommend Guitar Toolkit. It comes with a rudimentary tuner, scale and chord dictionary/diagrams, metronome, with fretboards for different instruments (6/12string guitar, 4/5string bass, plus the all important lefty switch). Very handy, very useful, if a bit pricey. Cromag Rally is a good race game, though they all get a bit repetitive. Still, good for a quick time killer and an impressive app in general. AirSharing will turn your iPhone into a wireless drive compatible with Mac or PC, very easy to use, and very useful. I just got Caissa Chess, and it seems pretty good, now that the price is cut in half. Some of my more frivolous favorites are FlipBook lite, a free version of the more robust Flipbook, which is a pretty robust animation app. Very cool. Stanza is a decent reader app if you'd like to read books on your phone. Pangaea VR is kinda cool, accessing Panaoramic VR stitches all over the world. Shazam/Midomi are both cool music recognition apps that hear a song, and tell you what it is. Labyrinth is also pretty cool. Remember the old LED football games? That's on there, I had to have it. 1Password is very useful. There's "KnotGuide" which I find interesting as knots have always been an interest of mine. WeatherBug is an upgrade to the standard Weather app that comes on the phone. I have accessed my work Mac using VNC, and performed some impressive tasks while away from work using it... if a bit questionable security wise. Younote is a good note taking program.... text, photo, voice, sketch... very easy to use, and versatile for list/note making. TapTap if you like that "Guitar Hero" or "DDR" style of game, though the response is questionable if you ask me. Well, I could go on and on (or did I already, oh well, go with your strong points), but really you just have to browse, and see what interests you. Check the reviews (be careful, some people review early versions and don't revise when issues are resolved), and check for demo's on YouTube (many of them are there).
The app stuff is really selling me on the iphone. Now if I can just get enough steady income for one...
itv and the us constitution. you never know when you'll need it on a test. I hear loopt is good but I try signing up for it but never get the confirmation text. anyone else have this problem?
i didn't like it...WhosHere is not bad if you wanna chat with other iPhone users near you. I deleted it cause it got boring after awhile but it's pretty cool at first.
I have the Touch and sometimes I wish I had the iPhone for a couple apps, but I still love it and am amazed at how incredible it is every time I use it. I don't think I have any apps that I've purchased, but there's TONS of very useful and cool free apps (I have sooo many): NEWS NY Times is a very well-put together app. Visually appealing, nice format. I'll use it every day or so. AP Mobile News is pretty good too. Not quite as organized as NY Times, but still good, especially for local news. Occasionally both will quit all of a sudden. Just a little annoying. WEATHER I have WeatherBug. It's alright. Haven't used Weather Channel. SOCIAL NETWORKING AIM is alright if you like to instant message. There was another one I can't think of (there's probably multiple ones) that combine AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, etc. facebook is fantastic. Chat works for me (only minor complaint would be to have the ability to delete messages). I don't use MySpace so no idea how their app is. Same for Twitter. LOCAL AroundMe is a nice one. Like iWant. Allows you to find Gas, Food, Hotels, etc nearby. GasBag - easily has to be my current favorite. Gives you quick and up to date prices of gas in your vicinity. so you can find the cheapest. Always fun to see what others are paying in different regions. Urbanspoon is a new one that I've come to love. Gives a random restaurant in your metropolitan area at the flick of a wrist. You can limit the search based on neighborhood, type of food, and price. MUSIC Pandora is tremendous, as is Last.fm. I switch from one to the other if I get sick of the music selections. Last.fm was better on the jailbreak version where you could view lyrics and it would allow you to listen while using other apps. That's the biggest complaint about the music apps: can't listen while using other apps. Just started using AOL Radio. I like it better than Flycast. Seems to have better connection as well. Shazam is a new one that works like the computer app Tunatic to identify music you don't know. Very nice, though I haven't used it. REFERENCE Wikipanion is wonderful for quick access to Wiki info. Google is very useful, but I don't use it a whole lot. It incorporates your location, contacts, and other info together so when you search for info you can find exactly what you want quickly. Google Earth is REALLY REALLY cool. Great job at utilizing the accelerometer where you can get the perception of depth by tilting the device up and down while looking at the globe. CINEMA/TV Flixter is awesome for movie reviews, listings, showtimes, and purchases. Even has Rotten Tomatoes ratings. i.TV, as mentioned is great for listings in your area. Very accurate and easy to use. MISCELLANEOUS WootOn! is great update for the Woot! sites. eBay is one of the best mobile apps out there. Self-explanatory. TipStar and CheckPlease are two tipping tools I use. Pretty simple and straightforward. Coin Flip - self-explanatory. Ridiculously detailed for something so simple. Flashlight is surprisingly handy. Gives you a full lit screen (in various colors at your choosing no less). Helpful in situations when you just don't have a real light. VNC Lite is also very cool! Just wish I had the need to use it. GAMES iGolf and iBowl are designed to be like the Wii. Relatively fun, but I tend to not let others use it, as there is no wrist strap. FSS Hockey is a visually appealing air hockey game. Well-put together. Audi A4 is a decent example of what the accelerometer can do. Tap Tap is a mix of Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. Pretty pointless, but good way to pass the time. Maze Finger is also kind of pointless, but addicting. Cool graphics for such a simple silly game. Word Warp is like text twist. I'll play it every couple of days. Sudoku is one of the better computer-based sudoku versions out there. FourFree is great if you like Connect 4. Live Poker is decent. It uses the same platform for MySpace/Facebook so you are playing against more individuals. The Texas Hold 'Em app by Apple might be better, but I've never played it. ESPN Cameraman is also a little addicting. Shows you two pictures and you have to find the 5 differences between them. Trace is silly and not too challenging. Fun for the child at heart I suppose. Just involves getting a stick figure from one part of the screen to the other while avoiding obstacles. SPORTS ScoreMobile is one of the better apps for a scoreboard in various sports. Lines (not certain if this is the full title of it) gives you up to date betting lines for a variety of sports. Keep in mind many websites have iPhone-dedicated websites, such as Bank of America, ESPN, and Hotels.com, which make the device even more useful and valuable. Every couple of weeks someone comes out with a cooler new one.
The Google search app can now do searches by voice. Pretty neat, IMO. Also, if you have a computer with a TV tuner at home, OrbLive is a MUST. Live TV on the iPhone is just awesome. Plus, the app can even allow me to access my computer's webcam. Other good apps (not mentioned above): Wonder Radio Units White Pages Yelp WeDict (dictionary) Fieldrunners (tower defense game) Aurora Feint (puzzle game) Oh, and jailbreak your iPhone for more fun.
Yes, most. A few use the microphone which only on the phone, but most do not. You get the apps from the App Store, via iTunes on your computer, or straight onto the phone if you're in range of wifi.
