Billy Spiers. You can scratch out the word infielder though and write in player. He played pretty much everywhere other than 1 and 2.
Others... maybe not the best of all-time, but names that came up when thinking about it: Casey Candale Craig Reynolds
other names that come to mind (of course Billy the Great is far and away the best ever): Denny Walling Harry Spilman Danny Heep (or was he an OF?) ...and a guy whose first name was Tim... Tim Tolman?
Amen to the Bill Spiers votes...I loved that guy, his tenure with the Astros was when I first started getting into baseball, and he always stood out to me
Now there's one of my all time favorite Astros. Why? I have no idea. Maybe it's because I found it hilarious that our hometown commentators would refer to the Killer B's of Bagwell, Biggio, Berkman, and of course, the .210 hitter himself, Tim Bogar.
A few pics of the guys I remember: Anybody know Bogar is a first base coach for the Red Sox? He managed in the minors for both the Astros and Indians.
No I was talking about Tolman. Good call on Bogey though, I had forgotten him. There was that tall guy we got from the Dodgers, too, a couple years ago. What has name? Lanky, lightweight hitter.
Spiers is hands down the guy but that Pic of Bruntlett reminded me of Game 4 in 05 when the Stros turned the greatest Double Play in Houston Baseball history!
I remember that diving stop Spiers made at 3rd base in game 1 of the 1998 NLDS vs SD. Robbed Caminiti I believe.
