At work I listen to music quit often; I currently have some Sony noise canceling headphones; model MDR-NC40 when I got them they cost around $100, the in line AAA battery has just gotten really annoying and I am looking to get s new set. wondering if anyone had any opinions on head phones? I know there are some really expensive sets out there, but I am not looking for anything over $300.00
The 555s are on sale at Amazon, but they're open air so you and people in your area will hear it. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD555-Professional-High-Quality-Audiophile/dp/B0001FTVDQ/ They can also be modded to sound closer to a set that's twice the 555's asking price.
I have the studio beats, but they are rather expensive. I'd go with a company like Seinheiser or Skull Candy. Altec Lansing is also a good company.
Does anybody know if this site is legit? I was thinking about buying some at BestBuy and saw this online..... Beats™ by Dr. Dre™ Studio™ (White)High Definition Powered Isolation Headphones $349.95 $168.99 Save: 52% off link
how about you just give me $100 and I'll give you some Koss headphones that I've painted red with a (B) on them? You'll save 70 bucks!
I'll quote Rox_Fan_Here from the other thread. Best headphones for the money. You won't be dissapointed.
I use a cheapo pair of clearance $3 ear buds. I love them because they fit perfectly in my ears. It's so hard to find that. The sound is good, too. Speaker technology has been out for over a century; it ain't rocket science to pump out decent sound for cheap.
Only spring for the beats if you want to be seen in them. They only sound good because most people can demo them at a best buy or apple store where the only competition is a pair of Bose triports. HD555 for 88$ http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0001FTVDQ If only for work then maybe some buds like the klipsch mentioned would be worth it.
This has to be a joke post. I have no personal knowledge, but go to any audiophile forum and everyone will say that beats by dre sound 3x less than their price (meaning you can get similar sounding cans for 1/3 of what they are charging) and that skullcandies are to be avoided like the plague. To the OP, to go head-fi.org It has very informative reviews from serious audiophiles for pretty much any model you can think of.
I'm currently using a pair of Sennheiser HD650s and they're great. I also had a pair or HD595s (very good also), but sold them to a friend. I can tell you that the HD555 or higher are all good and you may be able to find them on sale for less than $300 like vinsensual posted. I've also heard that AKG and Grado make some nice cans. I second what TheRealist said about going to head-fi.org. You can find out pretty much anything you want to know about headphones there. If you're going to invest in a pair of high end headphones, take into account that they may need many hours of burn-in/listening before you get the best sound. They may also need a good headphone amp to drive them and get the best audio quality.
I have Senheiser HD280 Pros. To my ears, they're absolutely awesome, but I don't have much of a point of reference since these are my first pair of high def headphones.
like the plague? wow all i do is listen to mp3s. do i really need to drop hundreds and hundreds of dollars for mp3 quality. i think not. tsk tsk
Beats are good but you're basically paying for the band. You can get some cans that sound as good or even better for a cheaper price. But you don't get the cool "B" and the feeling of looking cool with Beats headphones.
Most of the Senn headphones suggested in this thread (except the HD280's) are open. They will offer no sound isolation and you will hear anything in your environment and people can hear your Cold Play mp3's. So if you want a closed headphone make sure that is what you get. These are pretty nice for 188 bucks: http://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-DT-770-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B000F2BLTC# If you are willing to spend more of your budget, these are also closed and very awesome. http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AHD2000...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1289508557&sr=1-1
