I would put the Golden State Warriors' fan base as number 1 at the moment. I will never forget how loud they were in '07 vs. Dallas, and they haven't disappointed since. OKC and Denver would be my other two.

Just calculate the average attendance (in % capacity, not raw attendance) of every team for the last 20 seasons. Average that out.

    Boom.

I agree with Knicks being #1 because they stood behind the team no matter how bad the organization and owner are. No matter how bad the times are, how bad the trades are, how bad the players are, they still support the team to no end. What more can you ask for the team?

Golden State should be higher imo. Their fans are loyal and loud.

and miami at 8 is arguably worse. Orlando and Miami at 7 and 8? Really.

That's not a measure of fan quality, that's something more like a market saturation metric. Let's see, who would I guess would rank high? (1) Very large cities -- oh look, there's New York and Chicago. (2) Smaller towns that have had a stable team and not many other pro team competitors -- yup, there's Portland, Orlando, and San Antonio.

Aside from that, shouldn't this be called something like Marketing Efficacy? It's on the teams' marketing departments to get sales; the customer doesn't have a responsibility here. Imagine a Walmart earnings call where the CFO is explaining how sales were weak in the Pacific Northwest because Walmart has bad fans there.

Eh, I see your point, but I think we just have different opinions on "fan quality."

I mean, there's really no other measurable way to show fan quality, as it's entirely subjective.

    Which makes this list stupid.

I think they should judge by the traffic in the teams' respective bbs communities. Committed fans post all day about the team when they're supposed to be working.

I'm surprised Brooklyn is so low. Completely new team with Deron and Joe Johnson? I'm not saying they should be top 10, but to be dead last? I was expecting Charlotte in that position.

They've been stultifying in the wastelands of New Jersey for a long time, and then spent a couple of years at a lame duck before the move to Brooklyn on top of that. And, they're in the Knicks' shadow. And, they've sucked since the beginning of time.

What kind of garbage is this, OKC and GS are way too low. Top 5is probably newyork, gs, Chicago, okc and Boston

I think OKC is slightly hard to judge simply because they've only rooted for winners and an awesome exciting team. No idea what would happen if they face adversity.

This makes no sense to me. OKC and GSW have arguably the best crowds in the league. College atmosphere.

I always thought Indiana did too. 26 seems extremely low.

Pacers players called out the fans. Ever since the malice in the palace and the fallout the Pacers fans haven't really supported the team. However, finally in the playoffs it seemed to change.

Yeah in a Pacers-Lakers game, there were fans wearing Laker jerseys. Obvs, Pacers players didnt like that and George Hill called them out
