I'm looking to buy a king mattress set in the next couple weeks. Where should I start looking for the best price? There are a million and one mattress and furniture stores in Houston, anyone recently shop for one and have a recommendation on where to go?

I just went to about 6 stores in the past week looking for a mattress. We ended up buying ours at the Mattress Firm on Kirby near Rice Village. They were the most helpful and friendly with reasonable prices.

What type of price are you looking for?

Mattress stores usually have really good sales frequently. Bought our mattress 5 years ago from Mattress Giant for 50% off...

Costco has them as well, as poster above mentioned. No idea on pricing

    haha.

I am trying to find a king for under 1k. I found one online from mattresses for less (i believe) for around 900. There is a mattress firm right down the street from me, so i might as well start there.

Anyone try the Dump? I hear they have good prices on mattresses.

The stars furniture outlet on 45North near Airline has some good deals. There is a king size restonic for about $900 there and it was really comfy, I think it was a pillow top. There is also a vera wang king for about $900 too. Outlet stores woudl be the best place to get a deal .

I just bought a King mattress as well, but got a nice discount from my friend. Check out my his websites at www.sleepbetterstore.com and www.angelbeds.com

He just opened up a retail location on Shepard at westheimer next to my fit foods (across from mattress firm and the coldstone shopping center). I would go there and check out the beds and compare to prices elsewhere.

If want more info let me know and good luck

I'm glad you started this thread. I'm looking to buy a mattress set, too. I've seen some ads on craigslist from dealers like Matress Pro Discounters and other folks who appear to be simply selling mattresses out of warehouses. This stuff is typically priced at almost half the cost of a set at Mattress Firm or wherever.

Has anyone actually purchased a mattress from this super-cheap warehouse joints? Would you recommend it?

I've been looking to get a king size tempurpedic because my pillow top is a piece of crap. Hoping to find a furniture or matress store that is doing some no payments no interest for 2 years deal.

I got a no interest deal from Mattress Giant about 6 months ago on a king Tempurpedic. Tempurpedic does not allow discouting, so retailers offer no interest deals to get your business.

Sorry to keep plugging my friends business, but figured I would point it out again.

I know my friends store has at least a 1 year no interest deal, not sure if its 2 years or not. check it out http://www.sleepbetterstore.com/

I recommend going to their store at westheimer/shepard check out their beds and compare their prices.

If anyone was still curious, I bought a Sealy (or Serta, I dont remember) mattress from Mattress Firm (king) for $1200. It was originally around $1600 and has a thin memory foam on top. Pretty nice. Cheapest I found were around $900.

Also, Macy's is having a sale on mattresses. Some of them are like 50% off. But, when they are originally $3k, it is till rather expensive. Worth looking for sure though.

ok, so sorry to bump this thread, but i'm looking for a mattress and wanted some input. i need a cheap queen or full mattress set, aiming for <$300. don't care if it's crappy, i will be putting an awesome memory foam topper on it. i've seen some crazy good deals on craiglist (from companies, not private sellers). has anyone bought a mattress from a company on craigslist? is it better to just buy from a retail store?
