Well, they just covered the McGrady dunk on Bradley. They then had a count down of 5 of the best post-season dunks: 5. Desmond Mason break away open court 360 dunk on the Spurs. 4/22/02 4. Kobe Bryant's baseline reverse dunk over Garnett and the Wolsves. 4/22/03 3. Jordans okay doky dunk over Patrick Ewing. 4/30/91 2. John Starks over Bulls. 5/25/93 1. KJ over Dream. 5/15/94 John Sally then said the one (current) person you never want to dunk over is Dikembe Mutumbo because he will make you pay for it. Lots of Rocket talk on this subject!
that was a nice dunk by kj but if hakeem was straight up with him and not coming over late to help he wouldn't have even thought about it.
The Dallas Morning News is asking for people to write a caption for "The Dunk Heard Round the World". . . don't you think a few of us could help them out? http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...mavs/stories/042605dnspomavscaption.218081c59http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/basketball/mavs/stories/042605dnspomavscaption.218081c59
I think Hakeem running from half court and swatting KJ's dunk from behind into the 5th row was ten times more amazing than that overhypepd single highlight of KJ's career.
I agree but... the mere fact that it is Hakeem that he dunked on like that is the story. Gotta give credit where it is due...that was nasty. Bradley has been dunked on by everybody. But Dream, that is a select group. Think of it this way, "no publicity is bad publicity." It is a compliment to Dream that this is so memorable. I'm sure Chucky Brown got dunked on but we don't remember that, right? BTW, the #2 dunk of Starks...that was over Jordan. It was #2 BECAUSE it was over Jordan.
wasn't that the most blatant case of off hand elbow shielding ever? he caught dream squarely on the chest with his left elbow from my recollection
Just previous to the top dunks, they discussed the Rockets. Everyone was on the bandwagon (of course). Salley predicited a Houston vs. Miami finals. Pretty nice pub, but i'm good with the Bad pub and more wins. Save the accolades for after the playoffs. All these "experts" finally see a complete game (instead of highlights) and are so quick to jump on and off a teams bandwagon. What happened to Dallas being a legit contender for a title? Best team Cuban has owned?
I think the KJ dunk on Olajuwon is the complementary dunk to TMac's dunk on Bradley. Came from the wing, caught the center out of position, dunked it fierce, got the foul to boot. Of course, KJ got his on a superior opponent.
Usually, I think that the "posterize!" dunks are kind of lame. Most often, it's some poor center who decided against contesting the dunk because he doesn't want to pick up a foul. Sure, it looks cool - but so what? If Hakeem/Garnett/Ewing wanted to, they could knock the little flyers out of the air. They don't because they would get a foul. Ooooh...look at me...I can dunk when the other person doesn't want to foul me! There are some that are just awesome - like when the other guy is honestly going for the block, and just can't get it. But it's mostly just flash.
