this thread is only for current hip hop artists, so biggie and tupac are out...(even though tupac still comes out with songs...but that's a different thread altogether)

sorry... i had to vote for someone not on your list. :(

missy elliott is by far the most creative rapper out there... female or male. her lyrics, beats, and videos are completely off the wall.

who else can say this and have it sound cool at the same time?:

love the way my a** go ba-boomp-ba-boomp-boomp
keep your eyes on my ba-boomp-ba-boomp-boomp
and think you can handle this gadong-a-dong-dong
take my thong off and my a** go vrooooom

it's sad the rappers that i like are either dead or don't rap anymore. biggie, mase, pharcyde, etc.

sandballa, i'd have to say jay-z is a close second to missy. ;)

i was gonna put nelly on the list, but now it seem like he's more of a pop star than a hip hop artist...

Seriously, Talib Kweli puts those others to shame.

Its all about the lyrics, got to have some substance. Quality over quantity... Check his music out if you like hip-hop and may have never heard of him!

    Word to your mutha.

Seriously, I like old school hip hop much better than todays "bling bling" clones.

i also think missy is one of the most creative rappers out there. outkast should be included with her as some of the most creative rappers in an industry where copycatting is the norm.

right now i think 50 is the hottest rapper out there and he has some bad ass lyrics too. i voted for him over eminem. i still like eminem the best, but 50 is closing in on him. i think em is an amazing lyricist and makes stuff up and rhymes in ways that you just don't hear and he can do it in almost any style. the words he uses you just don't think that you can put them in rap songs but he gets them in there and makes them flow perfectly.

While Im not a huge rap fan...I am assuming 50 Cent is a bigtime rapper...I was walking in a mall and a vendor that rents a spot in the mall, sold pictures and paintings....I saw a picture of MLK, Malcom X, Michael Jordan, Hank Aron, and to my surprise.........50 cent..........................I laughed a little but thought that maybe he had made a big impact in the rap industry.....I dont know.....

I like Kweli but I'd have to go with Mos Def ahead of him. He's more versatile than any other MC out there right now, including underground MC's, in my eyes. What they need to do is come out with another Black Star album.

"Get By" by Talib is incredible stuff. Produced by Kanye West, one of the hottest beat makers around.
