Rage/Wu Tang at Great Woods Aerosmith at Great Woods 311/Incubus at Oakdale Theater ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams fan club. Web site coming soon atheistalliance.org
DJ Spooky...WOW! That guy did some wild ass stuff withh all his echo eqiupment and all. I wasn't on any kind of drugs, but it had me trippin'! ------------------
I don't attend many concerts, but when I do I usually enjoy myself. The bands Travis & Remy Zero put on a great show in Houston a few months ago. ------------------ "...just because a clever person can complicate the discussion about the truth doesn't necessarily mean he or she is making any progress in finding it."
My all-time favorite show was the Black Sabbath Reunion with Pantera opening. Man, Ozzy just rules. The first Family Values was awesome. I became a die-hard Korn fan after that. Rammstein put on some unbelieveable pyrotechnics. The Summer Sanitarium Tour at Texas Stadium was also great: System of a Down, Powerman 5000, Kid Rock, Korn, and Metallica. What made this so cool was Hetfield (unfortunately) threw out his back. The silver lining was all the Metallica songs being fronted by Jason Newstead, Kid Rock, and the singer from System. The follow-up free show with Hetfield back made up for any disappointments. One of the best shows I have ever seen was when Rob Zombie opened for Korn. Damn can Zombie put on a freakin' show! All this demonic stuff, fire, explosions, and a huge-ass robot moving all over the stage.....I will never pass up the chance to see him again. ------------------ "Salt Lake City, Utah. id have to go with the first KISS farewell right behind ACDC stiff upper lip. they were both amazing but i had to give it to ACDC because they have so many good songs and they played them all. ------------------ KD 12-21-99

Springsteen's 'Ghost of Tom Joad' acoustic shows down here in Sydney. Two and a half hours of just him and a guitar...and some great story telling. It was an incredible evening... To make it even better... I just managed to find a bootleg of the night!! Got it from a guy in Germany and it sounds great...gotta love how small the world is nowadays ------------------
In no particular order: Dave Matthews at a club here in Houston right after he stopped opening for Big Head Todd and the Monsters and started headline that tour. Was on their first album. The Black Crowes in the Coliseum in 1993. It was a free show after their show in Houston the previous year was screwed up by some over-zealous security guards. The free show was great music, belly dancers and women dancing on the hockey rink rails. Awesome. Mr. Big at Backstage in 1992. The band was simply killer. Kings X at Xcess in 1990. That was their first album and the Awful Truth opened for them. They are still one of the best bands I've ever seen and I've seen them a number of times. Also, Doug (the singer/bassist) is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, a vitamin freak and a hell of a Rock and Roll Trivial Pursuit player. I'll never forget when he got a call from Kip Winger at my house. Wierd! Joe Satriani at Xcess in 1990. Man, was he unreal. Had Stu Hamm on bass and Jonathon Mover on drums. I still have a bootleg of the show I made. Killer. Robert Plant in 1991 on the Manic Nirvana tour. Hard to imagine being laid back in front of 16,000! U2 in 1987 at the Erwin Center in Austin on the Joshua Tree tour. Afterwards, I saw them play with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmie Vaughn, Charlie Sexton, Eric Johnson, Dr. John, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon at Antoine's. Not sure which was better! You're gonna laugh at this one... Yngwie Malmsteen w/Talas at Cardi's in 1984. Malmsteen was a stud guitar shredder and this was his first tour. One of my all time favorite bass players (see Mr. Big) was playing in the band that opened for them, Talas. Malmsteen was great and his band played forever covering Deep Purple and Rainbow songs until REALLY late. Of course, i was 14 at the time so just about anything was awesome to me. Suzanne Vega at Rockefellar's in 1991. She was terrific and really funny. Pat Metheny at the Music Hall in 1993 on the Secret Story tour. Wow! The Chick Corea Acoustic Trio at Rockefellar's in 1990. They were just beyond belief and VERY nice people as well. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
I saw the reunion too with Pantera and the Deftones opening. It was by far my favorite concert I've attended. I'm still mad I missed the recent Incubus/Deftones concert. ------------------

Seeing U2 at the astrodome for PopMart tour was incredible. I got to see one of my favorite bands and they put on an incredible show. Astrodome really sucks for concerts though. Counting Crows on Haloween last year was also amazing. They came out in full costumes. Rolling Stones - Bridges to Babylon tour simply because their the Stones. ------------------
OK, I'll try not to sound too old... Concerts: --Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band at the Summit, December 1978. "Darkness on the Edge of Town" tour. He played from 8:30-10:30 PM, took a half hour break, and then played from 11:00 until nearly 2:00 AM. At 1 in the morning, they turned on the lights in the Summit to try to get him off the stage. He just kept going and going and going. --Little Feat at the Coliseum, New Year's Eve 1978-79. Lowell George's last show in Texas before he died six months later. I sat front row center. Their second song was "Fat Man in the Bathtub", and when he sang "Throw Me a Line, Throw Me a Dime", I pelted Lowell George with a dozen dimes I had in my hand. He didn't miss a beat. --Pete Townshend with a 15 piece band at the Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, 1993. The theatre only seats 900 people. Opened with "Rough Boys" and played a 3 hour set with lots of songs from his solo records. Great show. My favorite club show was Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble at the Rome Inn, Austin, September 1979. This was before he was discovered. It was a Sunday night, and there were maybe 25 people there. It cost $2 to get in and 75 cents a beer. Now those were the days! ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
Dave Mathews Band - Smirnoff Music center Lenny Kravitz - same venue Sarah McLachlan - same venue ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
I'm not the headbanger I was when I was younger, but my best concert experience was when I went to the Summit to see Iron Maiden with W.A.S.P. opening. Immediately following the show, we went to Cardi's and saw Armoured Saint and a very young Metallica. Strangely, Metallica was my least favorite of all. ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
