I'm looking for suggestions for a good Chinese food buffet in or near downtown? Good food at a good price?
damn drox, i just realised that you've been away for awhile (right?)... welcome back. no clue on the chinese food, but mai's is real close to downtown and they have some pretty good vietnamese for cheap.
barf. Go to Thien Anh or Pho saigon which are both off Milam before you go to Mai's if you want REAL vietnamese food. Sorry to offend anyone who likes Mai's but that place is only good when you're drunk. And my folks are family friends of the owner.
I used to Chinese buffet with the best of em. Until I discovered the Indian food buffet! I wish I had some naan and some palak paneer right now!
Thanks! Been gone for a little over two years, yeah. No Indian or Vietnamese. Looking for Chinese buffet near downtown.
Buffets are Germ Headquarters. Imagine all the people that crap and piss and don't wash their hands, then they go and use the same spoon you use to serve yourself food. If you enjoy peoples pee germs then I guess buffets are the place for you.
Ahhh, good old Americanized Chinese food. I'll even eat it in a mall. I could and would in a bathroom stall.
Is it true that most Chinese buffets use MSG? I love Chinese food but have never been able to handle the buffet food. There's something in it that makes my stomach hurt later on. I figure it's something like MSG. I ask every Chinese place I go to if they use it, just to be sure.
i don't think MSG make your stomach hurt. probably just ate too much. i know this american guy that went to china to learn chinese for a year or two. i see him carrying a bottle of chicken flavored MSN with him when he eats food. he loves that stuff, he knows it's MSG too.
Don't know how close to downtown you want it to be, but there's this place near 610 and 45, V-Star is the name, that serves all you can eat buffets. Pretty Americanized, but still reasonably priced. I liked it...
If you decide to hit this one up give send me an email and let me know and I'll meet you there. Ate there yesterday and the food is good as far as buffet's go.
i think that kim son on jefferson stopped serving buffet during lunch. wasn't good anyways. i know its not buffet, but Auntie Chang's Dumpling House near Shepherd and Westheimer is good food (i'm chinese and i approve it ;P) at a good price. other than that, i don't eat chinese buffet so i don't know of any.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys, but almost all of those are not downtown (except for Kim Son, which doeesn't serve buffet). There must be a decent buffet downtown, right?
To be exact, it's off 45 and 610 south loop. Exit Woodridge and make a U turn coming from downtown. That's my hood, dawg!
