Ranosh Cafe http://www.ranosh.net not exactly your typical sit in restaurant, but reallly great food. I think i had a chicken shwarma there for about 5 bucks. the spices were great plus you can also enjoy a hookah there for another 5-7 bucks try it out!
Lai Lai's really cheap and gives a lot of food. But don't be mistaken about the quality, it's above average. Better than most americanized Chinese food, but if you're in China town, there are a lot more better restaurants next to it.
They used to be great. Now they suck. To experience what Lai Lai used to be like when it was good, check out Santong Snacks, located in the strip mall just west of Lai Lai where the Tan Tan restaurant is located. Killer dumplings and soups.
If you like hamburgers, you can go to the McDonalds on Bissonnet and Beltway 8, all the mayo you want, no questions asked.
People mention James coney Island and I think to myself.. oh i havent had that in forever.. check to see if there is one by my college... and apparently not.. I wasn't aware that it was a Houston area place only?
