This year, in, particular has a lot of good (and dominant) caucasian players.
I don't really care if a player's white or black, or red, but lately there has been a rise in white college bball players. Just a little random urge to make another random thread
The list (in no particular order):
(my homeboy, of course) Chase Budinger
    [IMG]

Kevin Love (whos a beast at the college level)

    Tyler Hansbrough
    [IMG]

Both Chase and Kevin Love, btw, are predicted to go in the top 10 -top 15
Tyler has improved not only on his game, but has become somewhat quicker and more athletic over the summer.

What do you guys think? Feel free to add your own

Whether you classify them as "White" or not, may be a D&D topic, but the Lopez Twins, and Brook in particular, for Stanford are fantastic college players and future lottery picks.

I think Brook the Lopez twins are amazing, especially Brook, who's really the one is being mentioned as a lottery pick. But they're both amazing regardless of color or race

Some of the shine has seem to come off of Budinger this year. As of now, he is a nice college player, but I think it would be reach if he goes in the lottery. He's not a great defender and he has a lot of trouble creating his own shot.

Along the same lines i have doubts on how Love's game will transition. 60 foot two-hand chest passes are greater, but will it matter if it comes from a 6'9 player with Yao Ming's jumping ability.

Yes, Budinger was a little overhyped, but he still has great potential, especially if he plays in the SG position in the NBA. He's like a Rudy Gay-he can run like a gizelle, jump out of the gym, explosive north and south, and can shoot lights out.
Yes, he's not a great defender, but he is certainly not Adam Morrison horrible. He actually has good lateral quickness, but he's a little average in terms of foot speed.
Oh and he's kinda soft (ie Tmac in his later years)
But otherwise he has incredible potential in my opinion

Well he has very single tool you could want. He's a terrific athlete, he has good size for his position, good fundamentals and he can shoot. I think he is always going to have trouble, especially on the next level, if he has to be "the guy". I'm just not sure he is every going to be great at creating his own shot. Doesn't mean he can't have a great nba career. His value may depend on the guys around him. For example, i'd love to have him as a Rockets. I think he'd fit in perfect as a supporting player around yao and tmac.

Hansbrough will be better than anyone thinks. He has underrated lift, great work ethic, but most importantly he plays big and physical. Every GM is chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that is a big athletic post than can shoot, move, dribble, etc... Or the big finesse post that can shoot deep. What the hell is up with that? They rarely panout, and when they do they are rarely that great.

You give me a post that realizes he has balls and plays straight up physical old school basketball. Thats sexy. Thats the kind of player that contributes something. Instead we will see the Turkan's, Tshkvidilis (or whatever), etc... go ahead of him. Then everyteam in the league will going after Hansbrough because he actually rebounds and plays deep. Where near 7fters belong.

Here's another "underrated" player (thats caucasian):
Joe Alexander (who's also very athletic, and can actually play defense)

And here's a video (for proof)

Thats what I've been saying. He would be the PERFECT compliment to Yao and Tmac, and this "system." In fact, with his athletic ability and passing skills, he would actually make Adelman's vision come true. He can be the "3rd scorer" that we have been consistently lacking. I would pee in my pants if we can somehow move up to get him/ he drops his stock drastically somehow.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but "white NCAA player" usually spells "bust" in the draft. See Morrison, Adam and Redick, JJ from two years ago and even Spencer Hawes last year. I know their careers haven't fully played out yet, but when was the last time you saw a good white American big guy pan out? Maybe Dunleavy in 02, although he's not very big.

So yeah, I would not say that the chances of Tyler Hansborough and Kevin Love being drafted high are very good, much less actually thriving in the NBA. There's always room for shooters, so Budinger will make the lottery I bet. But I still doubt he'll do very well.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but all of those players you mentioned lacked one thing: athleticism.
Chase is a rare commodity: a white shooter that is also athetic (basically the white version of JR Smith + basketball IQ). But so much has to do with the type of offense a team runs, so his potential depends on the team drafting him

You know what? I can't wait for next year's dunk contest: there's a possibilty that we can have TWO white dunk contestants in Chase Budinger and/ or Joe Alexander. I wanna see the look on people's face when they realize that maybe white men CAN jump!

Heh, I think the world record for vertical leap is held by a white man. ;)

Okay in light of recent events.....

who do you think is better player?:
    Chase Budinger or Joe Alexander.

Joe Alexander has been hot off the charts lately while Budinger has been inconsistent. But both still have amazing potential, but at this point I think Joe is a lot tougher, and if he can work on his jumpshot (especially his mechanics), he can be a special special player.

Did anyone just see the crossover Joe Alexander put on Dajuan Summers of Georgetown? Absolutely sick. Broke his ankles... YouTube moment in waiting.

I'm watching the game too. Yeah that was a sick move by Alexander. I truly believe if he can straighten out his mechanics a little bit (like extending out his shooting arm straighter), he has amazing potential.
