I was wondering which cars do you all think are the best. They have to be below a 100 grand. I am not a big fan of American cars, but that Lincoln (Motor Trend car of the year) kicks ass. The best however are Benz S430 Lexus GS300 Lexus LX470 Jag S-Type (though the back is pretty ugly) Navigator I think Beamers are overrated. Also I hate big Cadillacs. ------------------
I am a car nut. All the "supercars," (Ferrari, Lamborghini) and super-luxury cars are fantastic, sexy, kick-ass and blah, blah. However, nothing turns my head quicker and gets me more excited than a ('87-'93) fox-chassis GT Mustang 5.0 hatchback. The '93 Cobras only serve to increase the "wow" factor. I love Mustangs. I have a '93 GT-- white with silver flake, chromed pony rims. It was on a college student budget, but since I've graduated thats ALL about to change. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302

below 100 grand? my favorite car has always been the porsche 911 turbo, but seeing as they top the 100 grand mark (damn, what a sucky ceiling), I'd have to go with an NSX. ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
The Lexus LS470 is basically a waste of money when you think about it. Why pay all of that when you can get pretty much the same thing in a Toyota thats cheaper. Also, An M-5 has got to be up there at the top. Im amazed you didnt put any beamer in there, much less any one of the M's. I like the NSX but will really like it when they redo the body and make it all nice and pretty and awesome (I think scheduled for the 2004 model). Living in Houston, a Viper is always a good choice (of course, they handle like trucks) as you can get it tuned up really nice here and the car just goes fast as nuts. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Interesting topic. Being a car fanatic myself. I have to disagree with Rockets03 who said that the BMW's are overrated. I just got my dream car last year. A BMW 323 convertiable. Man it truly is the ultimate driving machine. I mean the handling is unreal. You can go around curves without feeling a thing. Now it is not known for it's overpowering engine but it's a blast to cruise in. I also got the Harmon Kardon sound system with 6 disc CD changer and it rock's. I also like the front of the Jaguar S Type and agree that the back is not that impressive. The new PT Cruiser looks awesome and is also practical. The best thing is that it is only between $16 - $20 grand. I am sure they probably are going for alot more right now based on the high demand. I am not to crazy about SUV's because they are major gas guslers. They need to do a better job increasing the fuel economy on these SUV's. I saw a report on the new's last night and Ford already has the technology to do just that. It could double the gas mileage on the present Explorer. They said it could improve it from 17 miles per gallon to like 28 miles per gallon. I think it is a few year's away. But still nice to see that one of the big car giants is moving in this direction. I think Mercedes makes a sweat car. Just pick one. It does not matter. I don't think you could go wrong. ------------------ There's no 'I' in the word team, but there's three of them in Isaiah Rider. Damn! My last three cars (BMW 325E, BMW Z3, and Lexus ES300) trashed in the same thread. ------------------
My father-in-law had an NSX he sold a couple of years ago. Cool car but a pain in the butt to maintenance. I don't much care for luxury or performance but I LOVE my Toyota Prerunner Truck. I've always driven trucks and I like this one the best of all. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
Rockets03 The Benz S430. Damn. Now your talking. My wife's cousin has one and I rode in it. It is the BOMB!!! Man the next car I get has to have a navigation system. They are just so cool looking. Plus this car has such much technology built into it that it will blow you away. There is also this new Benz that is supposed to be a redesign coming out in 2003. It is a coupe. I forgot the model (I want to say 500SL but I'm not sure). Man that is one tough looking car. ------------------ There's no 'I' in the word team, but there's three of them in Isaiah Rider.
My favorite car is the one I own. Lexus ES300 Coach Edition (coach leather & walnut interior). Best car I've ever had, and it rides smoooooooooth. I dig it. Beats my first car that I listed in the "First Car" thread!! ------------------ Bring It!!
Although "best" is a subjective term, for those of you with head-turning factors in mind, I can't believe none have you have mentioned what is quite possibly the biggest bargain in headturning performance cars on the planet : the Dodge Viper. This is my dream car. I fight myself daily not to go out and buy one because I'm practical except when it comes to performance fantasy cars. AAARRRGGGGG. I can't think of any other car under $100k that can turn your head with sheer looks and brute force like this car can. And all you modified 'Stang and NOS'ed Civic racers can keep your 1/4 mile times to yourselves because a 'Stang does not and will never turn my head and neither will a 600 HP Honda Civic. LOL! One of my managers owned a Viper and I got to ride in it... 0-60 in about 4.0-4.2 seconds for about $80k... a bargain for that performance. And if you're willing to plop down about $120k, you can get the Houston-based Hennessey Motorsport Venom mods that will destroy any car out there short of the McLaren F1 ($1 million) in 0-60 performance. The Venom does it in 3.2 seconds (the F1 also does it in about 3.2 seconds, but I guess I could use the extra $900,000 on something else...hehe). They have a new twin-turbo mod kit that takes the Viper to over 700 hp and ft-lbs at the rear wheels! *droooooool* Something more practical for under $100000 is the BMW 5 series or 7 series. I've always loved BMW's design. Really sweet looking cars. I also like the Lexus GS-400 as a luxo-sports sedan. For the really exotic look, Cadillac is supposedly bringing out a really freaky-looking luxury sedan called the Imaj. It looks like something from Tron. The inside of this car is simply GORGEOUS!! It has about 425 hp @ around 6000 RPM and rubber-ripping 400 ftlbs of torque @ (whatever the RPM was... don't remember). One of the car mags I read said it should retail around $90,000 and even though it's a concept car, Cadillac supposedly is close to releasing it to the public. Here's a link if anyone wants to look at it : http://www.cadillac.com/tech/index_imaj.htm If I have $100k to waste, I'm sure not buying a Lincoln or a Lexus, though. I think Mercedes are boring designs as are most Jaguars. Porsche can't touch a Viper for that price until you get to the Porsche all-wheel drive twin turbos, but then you're going well over $100k. Of course all this again is subjective and based on how you define "best". I love talking about the exotics, though. Like the Lamborghini Diablo SV, Ferarri F50, etc. One of these days.... one...of...these days... *sigh* ------------------ Just shut up and post [This message has been edited by Dr of Dunk (edited July 28, 2000).]
My 1999 Rally Sport Cavalier~! Maybe not, but I love my car. Its pretty good for something I got at 13 thousand. Came with 17 thousand miles on it, and it has power everything, sun roof, cd player, nice rims.... Salene <SP?> Mustangs also kick too much ass. ------------------ Who's ya daddy?
Grummet, If you had asked me to guess what kind of car you drove I never would've guessed a Z3 or a 3 series BMW. Your posts really belie your car tastes... ------------------ Just shut up and post
LOL! Right after I picked up my Z3, I was getting gas and some snot-nosed teenager comes up to me and says "Nice ride. What is that, your mid-life crisis?" Now I'm 43 with salt and pepper hair and mustache, but I don't think I look that old. I looked him square in the eye and said "It's cheaper than a girlfriend." He gave me the dumbest look. ------------------
You go old man! LOL! Should've just said "No, this is just my toy... my mid-life crisis is the Viper parked at my house in River Oaks; you know... the one you'll never be able to afford, burger boy". Watch the bastid melt... LOL! Hey y'all, I think I just made grummett post his longest response ever! ------------------ Just shut up and post
I'm going to go with the Audi S4 because I currectly have an Audi (though not an S4), but Porsches are actually my favorite vehicles. When I was growing up, my Dad always had a Porsche of some kind, usually 911s (even a 1988 factory slope nose turbo back when it was new), so if I could pick any car (under $100K), I'd most certainly pick the Porsche 996 Carrera 4. ------------------ www.houstonsportsboard.com
Speaking of Porsche's, not that this is under 100K, but the 956 may be the coolest porsche of all time (Im pretty sure that was the model---I know Seinfield has one) ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
My first real car is the one I am driving now which is a 1998 Lexus RX 300. Its the most dependable vehicle I have ever driven. And its extremely comfortable. But, when my lease is over, I am trading it in for a QX4 which is an awesome ride. I drove my friends new one 2 months ago and that baby can outrun just about anything. I think the best cars in the world are either Mercedes or BMW. For sheer luxury, reliability and resale, Mercedes rules. For sheer ride, handling and performance in any class, BMW has no rival. If I had that type of money(a hundred grand), I would get a Mercedes E Class sedan. From what I read, its the best production car made anywhere in the world. ------------------ I Want To Thank God For Making Me A Rocketfan
Besides the Benz S430, Lexux GS 300 is my favorite. I just got it a few months ago. The interior, the outside body, and the navigation system kick ass. But one day I hope to trade it in for a S430. A silver, 20" chrome rims, 12 speaker system. Now thats a bad ass car. ------------------
