Hey, I just got back from Best Buy and I picked up Beastie Boys, Franz Ferdinand, and Los Lonely Boys for 10 bucks each. FF and LLBs were part of some discount on rock CD's. The list is pretty short though. Modest Mouse and the Killers were also 10 bucks. Offspring was on that list, which is weird since their CD came out quite a while ago. The only other band I can remember is Switchfoot, but I don't really like their stuff. Anyways, if you happen to be at a Best Buy, and you've thought about checking out some of these new bands (I know Modest Mouse has been around), now's the time.

Modest Mouse's is the CD of the year.

My wife had VH1 on the other day in the bathroom when I was taking a shower, and I stepped out when that video was on (it had sheep in it). I only heard part of it, and I couldn't tell you any of the lyrics........but I can't get that sound out of my head.

About 2/3 of it is CD of the year material . . . it lags a bit in the middle, IMO.

Oh yes, that sheep video. For some reason it was always the last thing I heard before I went to bed all summer. Not bad, but the guy's voice was kind of annoying. Those of you who have the album, is this song typical of the others?

Not really. It's more "pop" than the other songs. "The World At Large" and "Bury Me With It" are, IMO, the best songs on there. I absolutely love the album.

My faves are "One Chance", "Blame it on the Tetons", and "Ocean Breathes Salty". My least favorite is "The Devil's Workday".

I can't imagine that album is as good as their earlier stuff. The single is just so soft.

Let's all have another Orange Julius.

The only other MM album I have is "The Moon and Antarctica", and while "Good News" is good, I think "The Moon" is a better album.

I am going to go against the grain here and say that "Float On" is the only song I could stand to listen to multiple times from that CD. "Ocean Breathes Salty" is alright, but other than that, nada. Maybe I should give it another chance if my friend will loan it to me again.

I'm really digging Los Lonely Boys. This CD is awesome. I'm not the type that can usually listen to a CD all the way through. If I do, it's because I was totally blown away. These guys have blown me away. I saw them on Costas's show and they talked about their musical burrito description of their music. The main ingrediants are obviously Stevey Ray Vaugh and Santana, but these guys have added their own spices and wrapped it up in a tortilla of uniqueness(<-- I know). Forgive the corniness, but I'm just really enjoying this album.

I read something in a user review where a guy pointed out they are all under 25 years of age. If they sound this good now, I can't wait to see how much better they get with age.

The CD has a cool little video from a live performance. It's an encore titled End of a New Beginning. Here's a description of it from another live performance where they do the same thing.

Anyways, I really need to try and catch these guys live. Maybe I can get to ACL on Friday if I skip my last class.
