OK, due to the other thread, and the fact that I have always screwed up making my own ribs, I want to know who y'all think has the best ribs, and BBQ in town. So far my favorite has been Williams BBQ- it's in the middle of nowhere. Look it up. Honorable mention goes to Drexler's. We recently started going here, and their ribs are damn awesome. Any other's?
Um, fatty, by saying "best bbq in town", you mean in Houston, right? Because you know who has the best bbq in the greater Houston area....
When you start selling ribs daily, you'll be on the top of the list. In the meantime, I'm trying to find out who makes the best ribs that can be purchased on a regular basis.
I eat ribs on a weekly basis if not multiple times a week. For the record I eat mine with out sauce so these reviews are based on pork ribs no sauce. In no particular order... BBQ Inn - on crosstimbers (they also have some of the best fried shrimp in town) Ottos - on Memorial Pizzatolas - On Shepard Demeris - Hempstead Highway or S. Shepard Pappas BBQ - SW Freeway (I had a pound of these yesterday) Luling City - Richmond
Fatty Fat b*stard has answered his own question. Williams Brothers Barbecue, on Wheatley Drive in Acres Homes, has the best barbecued pork ribs in the entire Houston metropolitan area. For barbecued beef ribs (Fred Flintstone Size) it is a tossup between Pappas Barbecue and the Old Hickory Inn.
I'll be the judge of that. I'm going to look it up and try them out next week. I had a couple good ribs from Luling City for lunch today and a nice link of spicy sausage that they only have for a limited time.
Go, and be amazed, my son. I guarantee they are the best. Just remember they are closed Sundays and Mondays. I wouldn't want you to schlep all the way out there for nothing!
What about best Beef ribs? I like those better. I know pappa's is a chain but they have some mean beef ribs. Maybe it's the sweet sauce though. You guys seemed to like pork ribs more.
Its not a barb q place...but I think Houston's (the restaurant) ribs are pretty good. Where is Drexlers? Ive always wanted to try the food there...I know there is one in the airport...but where is the main one?
BEEF N' BUN on longpoint. most unique, delicious sauce ever. i live in albuquerque now so its been a while- but i can still taste it. mmmmmmmmmmm. oh, and brown sugar's is good, too- just cant remember where it was- near alameda mall, i think.
2300 Pierce in Midtown. I'd heard it was crappy for some time, so I never bothered. We started going there a couple of months ago. Nicely upgraded with tons of Rockets and Blazers memorabilia. And their ribs were really good.
No, Midtown is near downtown, on the SW side in the previous 4th ward. The galleria is Just outside loop 610 on the SW side. They are about 10-15 minutes apart, though, so no biggie.
Nothing besides crappy Pappas for us in the SW side? My problem with ribs are they are so hit or miss. I could go to the same place two days in a row, and get different results. I prefer baby back ribs, so I usually go to Outback.
I second that! And if you like teri-steak, Houston's Hawaiian can't be beat (as per my wife...she says it's better than most teri-dishes that can be found in Hawaii).
Outback? Chili's? Good Eats? Houston's? Y'all need to eat more adventurously. (I've eaten at all these. Good Eats is crap. Chili's is OK, Outback is OK. Houston's is pretty good. But there are soooooooo many other places out there) Only eat at a chain if you live in suburbia.
