That pic does look just like Alex Ross's Batman. Batman Jones, maybe you should try independent films as a career move, you could flesh out your own vision of Batman:D

    Best Batman Film Ever!
    Friday, July 18, 2003 4:50 CDT

SHH's west coast headquarters headed by Chris ' Excelsior' Mason just had the pleasure of watching the single best BATMAN film ever, period!

The short film written & directed by filmmaker Sandy Collora titled BATMAN: DEAD END, is probably the best screen depiction of the Dark Knight ever put on the screen. I will be doing a Fan Film Spotlight of BDE in the next week, so be sure to keep an eye out for it.

The film features Batman as he has never been seen before, set in a dark dead end alley in Gotham City. The Joker has escaped from Arkham and Batman must once again bring him in - once and for all. A heated fight between the old foes is every Batman fan's wet dream, literally as the entire film takes place in the pouring rain. Unfortunately for the bat, there is something even more sinister than the Joker waiting in the alley for the dark knight detective..

I must say after watching this film I had goose-bumps. I'm the biggest bat-geek there is and have seen almost every incarnation of Batman there is to be seen and Sandy Collora's Batman in it's short eight minuets puts all the rest to shame. It's as if Alex Ross' Batman stepped out of the comic book page and into the real world. Truly amazing.
I'll have a more in dept interview with the film's director later
    next week.

I don't want to spoil any more of this film for you, but if you want to see it, you will be able to if you attend the San Diego Comic Convention this weekend.
(check out the screening info & links below)

The Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF)

    SATURDAY, JULY 19:
4:45–5:30 Batman: Dead End— Batman tracks his arch nemesis to a dead end alley. The Joker is no match for the Bat, but what else lurks in the dark shadows of the alley? A "making of" featurette will follow immediately after the film, including behind-the-scenes footage, outtakes, production artwork, and interviews with the cast and crew. Speaking after the film will be award-winning commercial and music video director Sandy Collora, producers Simon Tams and Daren Hicks, and the Dark Knight himself, actor Clark Bartram.

    SATURDAY, JULY 19:
5:30–7:00 CCI-IFF Meet the Filmmakers— At this annual gathering of some of the clan, Chris Gore of FilmThreat.com interviews some of the filmmakers participating in this year’s CCI-IFF. Panelists include Augusta (The Velvet Hammer), Jeff Ciolette (Unwound), Steven Austin (Moment of Silence), Sandy Collora and Simon Tams (Batman: Dead End), Chris Mancini (Hitclown), Tyrone Finch (Street of Pain), and Philip Zlotorynski (Walkentalk).

Damn. I'd like to see that.

I wish they'd let me write a Batman script.

The last one looks like a model/miniature. Anyways, the guy who made it, Sandy Collora is actually a proffesional, not some fanboy. He did concept art for the Abyss and Jurassic Park. http://www.collorastudios.com/homemain.htm

As long as he doesn't make any money off of it, I guess WB can't block the film from being seen. Can't wait for this puppy to end up on the internet.

One doesn't have to make money off of something to be copyright infringement. Making or not making money is not the standard (as evidenced by the fact that file sharing is copyright infringement).

Warners could certainly prevent it from being seen if they wanted to unless the courts found it to be a parody. But unless that's the case, it's up to Warners whether they want to prevent it from being seen.

See! Now that is what was needed. A gritty, dark Batman movie reminiscient of the Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum.

I'm so sick of these Bubble Gum crap movies that think they can make up for the lack of character development and dialogue by some additional lights and explosions.

I wish someone like a Ridley Scott (Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, Alien) would take up a Batman movie. The first one by Tim Burton was good but every movie from that point on has been horrid.

Where could I see this movie?

On the message boards at SuperHeroHype.com, there's talk that it will be available online possibly as soon as tomorrow.

I would check the message board there for updates.

FYI, Christopher Nolan, who wrote and directed Memento and directed Insomnia is already the director of the next movie.

More images. Man, not too bad with the costume, looks just like the comics. I heard that in the actual next Batman film, they'll be going the route of Spider-Man so that they can hide things like seams.

Director:Cut! Cut! Cut, cut, cut! I told you, we don't have the time or money for these little blooper reel jokes.
    Bat-actor: Ok Sandy, I'm sorry. Can I take 5, I gotta use the Bat-latrine?

I downloaded and watched this last night. I think those internet guys were too quick to call this the best Batman film ever. I mean, it was closer to the comics, at first, but that doesn't make it good. I know he's faced the Aliens and Predators in the comics, but that was ucalled for in this movie, it makes it seem like some amature writer just throwing in everything "yeah, lets make the Aliens show up, ooooh, and the Predators!" The guy playing Joker sucked and his crappy dialogue only made it worse, "I can't take my mask off," "you made me blah blah. .. daddy" etc. Good thing you can watch this for free.

Yes, the Batman TAS Joker is the best ever. Not only does MH play him well, but he is well written.

The movie was basically an 'ad' for the production team/director that put it together.

    I heard it cost $30,000.
