Ill name a game. Someone top it. Until we can find a handful of games we consider to be the greatest. No looking up lists on google either. Straight from the heart. Texas vs OSU 3OTs http://www.collegehoopsnet.com/blog/marchmadness/2007/01/texas-vs-oklahoma-state-game-of-year.html
One of my all-time favorites is Game 2 of the playoff series vs. Dallas. The one where Tmac posterized Shawn Bradley and then hit the game winner in regulation after not calling a time out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jvob54LwQGY and then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5KjSA29Rhs
same here, I was rooting so hard for kentucky, I hated duke. sports illustrated did a great write up afterwards on it that I still remember to this day. talks about how when pitino got to kentucky he asked the seniors on that team why they stayed. they answered because nobody else wanted them. pitino says in the article that he regretted not trying to get christian laettner for stepping on a kentucky player while on the ground. came back to bite him in the ass.
I might actually go search for that Kentucky game torrent. Hopefully this thread provides a handful of torrent friendly gems I can DL and save for a rainy day.
Andre Riddick. I was screaming at the TV to kick Laettner out of the game. At the time I was the only female I knew (I was fifteen, the girls that age had better boys to pay attention to) who watched basketball. I convinced a girlfriend to have a party so it was me and like 10 fifteen and sixteen year old boys watching the game. To say I was the most animated and involved would be an understatement. My dad to this day blames my mom. My sister was in the hospital, she had open heart surgery at the age of 6 months and was in the hospital for a little over a month recovery, and my dad had sat in the chair holding her for the entire game. The nurse kept coming in to take and feed her and my dad kept telling her when the game was over, she was his good luck charm. My mom finally got frustrated at the end. After Sean Woods made the shot to put us ahead she said, "It's over, let the nurse take her now". My dad reluctantly gave her to the nurse and two seconds later, we lost. My family, well at least my dad and I, take our basketball very seriously and superstitiously.
I don't have a torrent of it, but you can find it here. http://ukthunder.proboards98.com/index.cgi?board=audiovideo You have to register for access, but there are a lot of UK games there, so if you are interested in seeing some of the others to kill time they are fun to watch.
A&M vs. UT in 2007. Acie hits the game winner and the floor is flooded with fans. Game 6 against Dallas in Houston when we blew them out in the last quarter was also a really fun game to be at. Also 2 years ago when we played the Kings and Ron Ron went off and we won in OT.
I'm not sure anything will ever top the Kiss of Death game for me. After all the trash talk from Barkley that series, to go on the road in Game 7 and win in that fashion was just so sweet. I remember running over to high five my dad like it was yesterday. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aWGuUwjS4Pc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aWGuUwjS4Pc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Too many to name: Here is what I can think about mainly the ones that happen on the bigger stages... -NBA - Boston vs. Indiana (Game 5, 1991 First Round Playoffs, Bird's last playoff series...also I remember Chuck Person doing making some crazy shots in that series) Houston vs. Orlando (Game 1, 1995 NBA Finals, I'll let the other posters talk about it) Chicago vs. Indiana I might as well say any series with the Rockets or Pacers from 90s was pretty exciting. Detroit vs. LA (Game 7, 1988 NBA Finals) -NCAA- Kentucky vs. Duke (NCAA Tournament 1991) -High School- It was just two obscure small town schools playing for a state title on the local PBS...it was very good game that went into two overtimes...it was about 12 years ago.
Agreed. Houston Orlando Game 1 1995 was the most amazing comeback I've ever seen, and it was basically four games in one as the Magic were too heartbroken after that one to muster up much of a fight the rest of the series. And the Pacers Magic that year (1995) played a hell of a game in Game 6. Penny and Miller were just draining threes nonstop in the winding seconds of the game I remember. It was beautiful to watch. For the NCAA, I haven't been watching college long enough but the most ridiculous game I can remember was Arizona-Illinois 2005 in either the Elite Eight or Final Four. It was Salim Stoudamire against Deron Williams, Luther Head, and Dee Brown, and Deron Williams just refused to lose in the final minutes.
D@mn that was another game tickering in the back of my head. Another one: New York vs. Indiana (Game 1, NBA Eastern Conference Semi-Finals 1995).
