Best: Hilton Maldives (because of the setting) Worst: Some $ 29 (or was it $ 19) motel near Key Largo...huge cockroaches everywhere!
Travelodge: Lincoln, Nebraska. Room smelled like dog urine, literally. Beds were caved in. Phone didn't work. And shower and sink were filthy. Called the Travelodge corporate office and forced them to give us a room in Omaha.
Best room: MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Beautful view and awesome room. Worst room: Days Inn Canal Street in New Orleans. I've had generally good experiences with Days Inn, so I stayed at this one not knowing anything about the location. Well, or room was missing ceiling tiles (yes, we had ceiling tiles in our room) the remote only went in one direction, the bathroom had a toilet like those in public restrooms, was across the street from a free clinic, and to top it off the view out of the window was of the freeway about 10 feet away.
Best - Radisson in downtown Chicago (They gave me a nice suite on the 25th floor.) Worst - Some rathole in Waco...
Best: Delano in Miami or Mondrian in LA (both Ian Schrager hotels) Worst no name hotel: Some random fleabag place in Dallas
Best - Mandarin Oriental hotels are my favorites by far -- Miami is awesome, as is San Fran. Worst - Some ****hole in London with mice.
Best: I think it was the Marriott in the Caymans. Worst: Days Inn in Nashville for the DMB show last September. Someone was murdered two rooms down and we watched a hooker getting picked up as we checked out.
I've stayed at some nice and unusual places but they weren't hotels. But the best and worst hotels so far have been: Best - Hyatt Regency in Dallas. Worst - Some place called the Roachman, I mean Coachman Hotel, in NW Texas. We were caught in the middle of now where and needed to stop because I was falling asleep.
Vegas has some great hotels Bellagio and MGM Grand are great but the MGM is overcrowded (I hated trying to get an elevator) BEST: Suite in MGM Grand with a view of the strip WORSE: some Motel in New Mexico
Best hotels: The W in San Fran $400/night and the Ritz in Seoul about 250/night. The W was the prettiest and had the best beds, the Ritz had the best service and an indoor driving range. Worst hotel: A crappy $75 /night place in Carmel when I went whale watching. That place smelled like chemicals and was really humid. I stayed in an expensive hotel in london where the bathrooms were so small, you couldn't spread your legs to take a dump.
Best: Rainbow Tower - Hawaii OR the Hyatt in Whistler. Worst: a $25 truckers inn just outside of edmonton, everybody (the clerk and all) was drunk - and when i tried to get pizza delivered around 11 at night, the pizza place said they did not deliver there anymore because the last time they did, the delivery chick was raped. oh, and the bathroom lights/water didn't work - and it only had 2 channels on the TV.
Stayed there as well, while the rest of the hotel (service, common areas) were great, I actually didn't think the rooms were very nice.
You mean the Hilton Hawaiian Village, I think...I was there, liked the grounds, but it was too much like Disneyland, in my opinion...if I ever go back to Hawaii, I think I want to stay on Maui instead of going to HNL or the Big Island.
I've always liked the Embassy Suites - the one in Austin central is nice. I had to go to McAllen on business a few months back and I stayed at the Drury Inn and it was a very nice small hotel. High speed internet and nice folks all around.
Ditto. Honolulu sucked. A giant tourist trap shopping mall. (Although Pearl Harbor monument was moving)
