Even at the age of 33, LeBron was still considered by most to retain the unofficial crown of best active NBA player. But with this Finals MVP performance, especially that amazing Game 3, Durant has finally taken the crown IMO. Understand that I am talking about right now amongst all active players and not their total careers, either up till now or when both careers are over. Up till now, LeBron still has the better resume with 3 rings in 9 Finals to Durant's 2 rings in 3 Finals so LeBron's total career is ahead. But there is a good chance that LeBron's best days are behind him and he starts declining significantly from this point forward. He may never win another ring again. And if Durant can surpass LeBron in rings, he may even surpass LeBron in ranking when both careers are done.
He is arguably the best under 30 yr player. But Curry is more important to the GSW IMO, he gets the whole team going beside Donkey.
Must be great to feel active and coast with two spares and a perennial DPOY candidate. Better boost Katy's fragile ego some more before he pulls a Jordan and takes his talents to little league so he can take on all that pressure.
He lit up the leagues 29th ranked defense, thats cool. Dont get me wrong, he’s great and all but he’s in the convo for 2nd best along with harden. Lebron is the 1st best. Curry is a step below harden and KD’s tier imo.
GOAT or not, I think people are jumping on this GOAT wagon a whole lot faster than in the past. Such a millenial thing to do.
he just beat the best team of all times in the playoffs as a lone star with a supporting cast that cant shoot ITS A GOAT LEVEL ACHIEVEMENT
I kid but if you go around the league, how many fans from other teams or just any other fan will call him GOAT. There you have it. Chris Paul was more important in that series, Harden scored more but Chris Paul was more efficient.
I can't take anyone seriously if he/she actually believes this nonsense. Anyone who knows anything about basketball knows that it's far easier to put up numbers when you have 3 other Allstars that take the pressure completely off you. Defenses don't make adjustments just to contain you, and you can rest by picking and choosing when and where to expend your energy on the offensive end since you don't have the responsibility of carrying the offensive load. Also due to the switching schemes, Durant was more often than not guarded by a much smaller player in the midrange. Just ask yourself this. If you switched KD and Lebron, how many points would the Warriors have won by on average? 30? 40? 50? The series would be literally comical. Furthermore, KD and Lebron can never be compared by using the number of rings. Unless KD leaves the Warriors, Lebron's 2016 ring was a greater achievement than the sum of all the rings that KD will or can win with GS.
