Id have to say my first candidate is Kelenna Azubuike, the guy who was here for training camp and you saw with the Warriors he averaged 20 ppg in the first month or somewhere around that, the guy is athletic, can shoot 3s and is both a sg/sf which is what we need. He is also very young

2nd guy is Terrance Kinsey, who in the last month of last season did VERY well, from what I have heard of him is that he is playing in Europe right now and is doing really good, he is sg/sf, athletic, can hit 3s, even outscored Kobe Bryant during the last month of 07 stretch. Is also young just like Azubuike.

Adelman already said SG/SF, but here are the 2 candidates who we can possible get.

Those guys are not the answer to helping us get over the hump. Also, you could've posted this in another thread.

Kelenna is all right but is a bench player at best.

I really don't think we'll add anything from free agency that will get us over the hump. We only have about 6 million to spend if Landry signs for cheap. If anything, we'll have to get a 3rd scorer by trade mid-season.

if you wanna talk about scrubs who were tearing it up during garbage time of the season.. you should look up RAMON SESSIONS's stats for the last games of the yr for the milwaukee bucks... he had 24 assists in one game!!

Might as well have retained Kirk Snyder to a healthy contract. Have to think big, the rest of the west elite do. Thats how the Spurs, Mavs, and Suns have Ginobili, Terry, and Barbosa coming off the bench.

i don't think those teams were thinking "big" when they acquired those players. more like they just got lucky that those guys produce as much as they do.

    There's no point to this.

Sure, maybe we'll look at these guys if we can't get anything else. But those guys are marginal upgrades over what we already have at best. We already have a team full of "pretty good" players. We don't need more "pretty good" players. We need difference-makers.

These two need to be our last targets, not our first targets.

    Agreed. Lateral moves are pointless.

Bring in a guy who is a proven 15ppg scorer in this league (for at least 2-3 seasons) or just keep the spot for the guys already here and take our chances again next year, see if Yao and Tracy can stay healthy and see what this team can do.

Fortunately, I believe Morey is going to find a way to work some more magic and get rid of some of the underachievers on this squad and bring in a good, proven guy who puts up points.

Azubuike is not a lateral move. He may not be good enough but he's a lot better than bringing out Luther/Bjax to backup TMac/Shane. I don't know enough about Kinsey.

Azubuke would be AWESOME as a backup SG/SF...he rebounds well, plays good D and is athletic as heck.

If we can't sign Maggette, then Azubuke would be a nice cheaper alternative.

He is WAY better than Luther...too bad JVG couldn't see that when he was here.

my opinion of Kelenna Azubuike: the SG version of Chuck Hayes

    school? both Kentucky
    drafted? both undrafted

I really would like to do this trade:

    Chuck Hayes

    for

    Kelenna Azubuike

Remember Chuck Hayes used to be a starter for a playoff team! and hes bigger!

Kelenna A. would definately provide more athleticism at the back up SG/SF position. It would be nice if we can wrestle him away from the warriors. I doubt he will be the third scorer that the team badly needs.

Probably not, but he is an upgrade to Luther off the bench.

We won't have many choices if Landry is signed for part of the MLE. I don't think anyone will want our expiring picks. Brooks too has limited trade value at this time. Players like Pietrus,Barnes and James Jones if he opts out of his option will be sought be other teams. Azubuike isn't the best option but like DD said he would be an upgrade from Head if he opts out as well and can likely be obtained by using part of the MLE.

On my ultimate wishlist via trade is FRANCISCO GARCIA of the Kings. He is/ will become an awesome scorer. He has the intensity and is an underrated defender. He's on the thin side, but I'd take him on the Rockets in a second. His salary is very managable as well.

You know what else is an upgrade over Luther off the bench:

I do agree that Azibuke would be a good pickup. I watched the warriors a bunch this year to take in the refreshingly drunk don nelson school of basketball, and this guy can score a lot in a hurry. He's athletic and can get to the rim and finish, but he also has an impressive midrange game and they ran a fair amount of isolation plays for him. When Captain Jack came back, he saw a lot of his minutes/ shot opportunities go away, but he can definitely score, and wouldn't be that pricey.

    FYI:
    6'5" 220 pounds (doesn't seem too inflated)

Averaged 8.2 points in 19 minutes per game shooting 45% from the field and 38% from 3 land for his career. in november last year when he was a starter for most of the month playing 31 minutes per game, he averaged 13.5 points and 5.4(!) rebounds.

He probably will be available since: A.) The warriors have to pay Baron, and B.) He's behind an all-star caliber backcourt in the rotation (Boom-dizzle, Monta, Stack-jack) which means they are not likely to go into bird-rights territory to meet an offer.
