I am not asking who is the best rookie this year out of those 4, I am asking who will be better in the future. Basically, who will have the best career. Also, please state your reasons why you voted for that particular player. note: I ordered them alphabetically.
Curry without a doubt, he has the most impact on a game with a complete arsenal of skills and a whole host of leadership qualities. Most importantly he makes his teammates ( half of whom are D leaguer's by the way and who all love playing with him according to numerous reports, he even has gained the grudging praise of Monta Ellis who dissed him in training camp) a whole lot better. I've watched over 45 GSW games this year, and the kid impresses me every time I watch him. The rapid manner in which he has adapted and raised his game each and every month has been simply stunning. This is a kid that will be avg'ing 25+ points, 9-10 assists and 5+ boards a game in 1-2 years. And his defense has improved a ton since the beginning of the year. He already is in the top 20 in the entire NBA in steals at 1.8, and will be top 10 in that category from here on out. Curry simply has the most complete game as a true point, who is also clutch and fearless in crunch time-a lethal and rare quality to be sure.
No love for Darren Collison? His numbers will go down when CP3 comes back but considering what he's done the past month or so I'd have to put him on that list over Flynn. If he gets out of New Orleans and becomes a starter somewhere he has a pretty bright future.
I voted for Curry based on Smarts and talent. You should have Collison in there though. Tyreke is a ball hog. He's like the anti Jason Kidd.
Ty Lawson. Seriously, I don't think he'll ever be as good as Curry, Jennings or Evans (who are on pace to be stars), but Lawson is going to be one of the top PG's in the league in a few years. Kid has done everything correctly so far and is learning from one of the better PG's in the league. Collison's looked great so far, but I'll still take Ty over him.
tyreke evans. he has so many acrobatic shots that he makes and he creats plays for his teammates. sacrementos a scary 3 point shooting team and evans passes it out to them. evans can also creat a shot when it comes down to the final minutes and make. he can also make a jr. smith think he made an airball. <object width="645" height="674"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UrgvBHS1hpE&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UrgvBHS1hpE&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Jennings needs to learn to score inside the arc. He has a terrible shooting percentage inside the 3pt line. Flynn I haven't watched all season, but I imagine he struggles with getting teammates the ball, and turnovers. Evans is a beast stat wise, but he dominates the ball too much. Curry has the best all around game, but can he do it outside of Don Nelson's system which allows so much offensive freedom? I think he can, which is why I voted for him. The other guys have the higher ceilings, but Curry's understanding of the game in his first year is amazing.
I can't decide between Curry and Evans. If Evans works hard to shore up his weaknesses, the guy will be fantastic. Curry also has a chance to be special. Curry is the safer choice IMO but I'm impressed with how Evans recovered from his rough patch in late-Dec, early-Jan when he was crumbling late in close games. Neither Flynn nor Jennings belong in the same class. Part of Flynn's struggles may be learning the triangle offense. He may break out next season. If Jennings is worth a dime, he will come back a MUCH better mid-range shooter next season.
I think Jonny Flynn still has the most left to show, I think eventually he could be the most complete point in this draft. Tyreke is the best slasher I've seen in a while, he needs to control the ball less, but its hard when that team really doesn't have any other guards or wings that can create offense. For all the hype around Jennings, he's really not that jaw-dropping. When he gets that J working and his confidence starts to build, he turns into an assassin... but he's really hit a wall here in the latter part of the season. Steph Curry is playing in a "free verse" style of basketball in Golden State which allows pretty much any D-League player to come into their system and drop 30 points on any given night. I think Curry has been given the most freedom within his system by far. There are all the minutes he can handle, all the shots he can take, pretty good deal for him. Collison is very surprising to the rest of the league, but not to me. I wondered why he didn't get as much love as Westbrook, because he was a damn good point guard at UCLA, meanwhile Westbrook was flashier and more athletic.
Tyreke is my choice. Ball hog or not, he can just plain ball. And its not like his taking shots away from better players. One aspect that I love about him is that he work just as hard on the defensive end as on the offensive. Add in his size and speed, his defense will be in the upper tier for years to come. And 1 final push for this argument is that, he is already producing at such a high level even with glaring weakness in his game, such as turnover prone, bad shooting and gamble too much on defense. What a player he could be once he improve on his weakness.
i picked steph curry cuz hes gettin better and better and are outplaying the other rooks rite now AND hes barely scratching the surface of his game, he has so many areas that he can improve greatly at and if he fill all those holes he'll be a superstar Tyreke Evans game is nice but i just dont see him gettin much better it seems that hes sort of topped off, hes really solid and thats good but I dont see him becoming a dominant superstar, hes more of the quiet good type like Joe Johnson Brandon Jennings had that double nickel game early in Nov and that put tremendous pressure on him to live up to that every nite and he folded under the pressure and faded from the top rook bill all the way out of the top 5 rookie ranks which was shocking to me, but he has all the tools, vision, speed, qickness, a good jump shot, and leadership intangibles and tuffness by example when he hovered over big baby the other nite as he led them to a win over the C's I like Steph as the best of this bunch
well given the choices up there i think jennings may have the highest ceiling of the 4 as a point guard evans is more of a combo guard who plays point and well is putting up some great numbers but man that guy controls the ball so much i think he may end up in a francis/tmac scenario where he is only super effective when he has the ball in his hands constantly curry is great but his numbers are due to the system but his impressive passing and shooting are not. given the right coach curry could realize his potential the fastest. flynn - havent seen enough wolves games to comment but of the few i have seen he has done a great job getting the ball to the hole he has some ways to go but he too could easily be a all-star pg in a few years that get snubbed if he stays in the west speaking of snubbed how did my UCLA guys get left off the list? Holiday and Collison have been playing well of late, especially Collison
Tyreke Evans but I think he will eventually be in the mold of Dwayne Wade which means he won't be a PG. Darren Collison should be listed though.I think he could be the best "pg" of this draft. Brandon Jennings has to improve his shooting but he is a good passer. If he can get a consistent jumpshot or even a solid jumpshot he will be very good.
Ill go with brandon jennings. He has become one of the most underrated players in the league. The guy is already winning in this league which none of those other guys are.
