What do we have of value to offer for trade besides the #1 pick? KT Pick #15 Pick #34 Mid level exception. We can trade it rite? Am I forgetting any thing/one? Darth West, What do you think Battiers value is? I'm trying to figure out if we can draft ming and still get a starting caliber SF. Any ideas?
Well I think a sign and trade of Langhi and Collier for Battier would work Seriously, Moochie has some value as does TMo. It doesn't look to bright on the trade front. There's going to be a good SF on the board at #15. I'm not worried and I don't limit my choices to Odom and Rashard. This is the deepest SF draft I've ever seen. The basketball gods are smiling upon us
Don't be suprised if the Rockets hold some teams hostage, in order to get what they want. You'll be superised what a number one draft pick will get you.
Roc Paint you really believe we can get something of real value from Chicago for not trading the #1 pick? I just don't believe Krause would be to worried about Ming sitting there at #2. Not enough to give away anything of significant value anyway. We are talking about Krause though. That would be NICE!
is the mid-level exception tradeable? i don't think it is but that would help alot. if we get ming i'd be more than happy to pick nachbar at 15 if he's available. ideally we could trade the 15 and kt for odom or get rashard to sign for the exception but both are a bit far-fetched.
KT for Artest I would hope it could be done without the 15th but if push came to shove I'd prob part with the pick
If we draft Ming and Nachbar, two prospective starters at the center and SF spots, respectively, expect it to take no less than two seasons for these two to learn the system, refine their games, get adjusted to America and the NBA, gain confidence, grow as a team, and start effectively contributing. I'm fine w/ this, but I'd rather start being competitive next year. This is why I would much rather trade KT and the #15 for the best SF we can get....be it Odom, Lewis, Bowen, Artest, etc. The truth is...that is is very possible that we can get Rashard! It is obvious that he wants to return home....to the Rockets. It is definitely his decision, not the Sonics'. The fact that we will add the #1 talent in Ming this year and we already have Francis, Mobley and Griffin will only help draw Lewis to town in thought of a bright future. Our only problem might be financially. If we can't afford him, he will undoubtedly sign with another team. Anywho, there are several factors that will help draw Lewis to the Rockets.....we just need to put all of the pieces together, and offer a legit package of MoT or KT, Walt or Rice, and the #15 to the Sonics for Rashard in a sign and trade. Or whatever combintion of players, not including the #1, Francis, Mobley, and Griff. that will work fiscally.
I think Battiers value is lots higher then that ... ... doesn't really matter though ... Battier brings defense, energy, leadership and clutch play while beeing a rookie ... now these are traits we dont have much of and sure cant give away ... I also belive that it is extremely uncommon that teams trade succesful rookies that fit with their team ... so dont expect battier to come to Huston ... Anyway if I were Huston I would target Ron Artest ... he brings energy and defense ... he is an occasional offensive liability but that just means that boll hoging would be justified ...
You dont think West would think about trading Battier if he drafts Dunleavy or Butler? By the way who do you think West will draft? My guess is Butler or Wagner.
No, I sure dont expect Battier to be traded if we get Butler or Dunleavy ... what memphis needs is one more player that can play 2/3 ... not getting rid of the only one we have ... As for the draft I expect us to get either Butler or Dunleavy ... I would prefer Butler but I'll be happy with any of Butler, Dunleavy, Jay Williams, Ming or Wagner ...
Small forwards are a dime a dozen. I would really like us to focus on getting a quality SF without having to use the #1 pick. I also happen to think that it is not that urgent a problem that we have to mortgage our team to do so. I cannot over emphasis the point that any machinations must net us a 5 combo that is better, collectively, than Cato, Ming and Collier(I have not seen one yet), irrespective of who we get as a SF. I am one of those who believe that we could simply rely on KT,EG,Tmo, Rice and Nachbar to play SF for us next year. That added to our backcourt and the 5 combo, will allow us to make all the noise we want and politely pass on the Clipper Posse. Folks, by the end of the draft, we will not have a talent problem. If we do have one it would be a system or attitude problem.
So, we force Chicago into coughing up Jamal Crawford (expendable after the Bulls draft Williams) in exchange for the pick(s) they owe us in the Bryce Drew deal, by promising not to draft Jason Williams? Then we send Crawford +, maybe, KT or Rice (have to match the salaries) to get Lamar?
This makes better sense for LAC because Jay Williams would be a max player anyway. And we all know LAC wouldn't want too many of those. Jamal Crawford can play the 1 or 2 and won't command a huge salary when his rookie contract's up. But we can make Chicago or LAC think we'll deal elsewhere, and each won't get its wanted/needed player. It's all becoming clear to me now. I think. Maybe? Ming and Odom would be a really good haul for the off-season. Calling Roc Paint, calling Roc Paint...
1) The Middle Class Exception is not tradeable. 2) Dan Langhi is not tradeable (his contract expires July 1). 3) IMO, Krause will not cough up a player for the guarantee of not drafting or trading the rights to Jay Williams. (I used to think so but have changed my mind). IMO the absolute most we could get out of Krause is a future 1st, Lotto protected. Ming has plenty of market value. Just look at what some of us here have proposed.
Depends. Krause might give up Crawford, who would be less valuable on the team with J. Williams, for the #15 and our Drew draft pick obligation. That way he can draft a guard to replace Crawford, and would have some extra cap space to sign a free agent. Of course, the Clips have #8, #12, and some foreign point guard coming in. And whatever happened to Dooling? But I'm just trying to figure out what Roc Paint's not telling.
The Rockets already have a starting SF -- Glen Rice. If not him, I wouldn't be surprised to see Walt starting there again. I'm fine with either of Rice, Walt, Morris, KT or Torres playing the spot.
"The Rockets already have a starting SF" Don't make me laugh.. enjoy your cake on June 26, I know I will.. Go Rockets!!
