Ben Wallace is a FA after next season. What are the chances that he gets offered the max? If he isn't worth the max, what is he worth? Wouldn't it be interesting to see us make a run at him? Detroit has decisions to make after next season, they've got Darko still sitting there and McDyess signed for several more years.

I actually think the perfect PF for the Rockets is the other Wallace. I wonder if Detroit would be interesting in moving him for expirings if they get off to a bad start with their new coach and decide to break up the gang. Don't see that happening really. So the next best PF would probably be Big Ben for us. Does anybody else think he is a possibility for the Rockets?

I think this year he hasn't quite been the defensive juggernaut of years past...i think maybe it's because he's added some more offense to his game and/or tayshaun is just stopping people cold before they get to the basket or what...but Big Ben is not the same player he was last year. Hell, I'd kill to have him on our roster. This is just an observation..

As for moneywise...I know he's worth the max to the Pistons but I doubt he can get the max anywhere else. Probly 10-11 mil a year maybe?

I doubt BW would leave Detroit. He's had success there and Dumars is no fool. Wallace will get paid. He would be pretty sweet next to Yao though. Ben would be like Super Cato.

    Put it this way:

Ben Wallace has about as much a chance of signing with the Rockets, as Yao Ming does of signing with the Pistons.

Now that Big Ben has had the ultimate team success, next summer he will be looking for the ultimate personal success in the form of a maximum contract, which he won't get. He will be 32 years old when the 2006 season starts and I expect he will stay with Detroit unless a foolish team offers him way too much money. IMO, he has hit his peak and it's downhill from here on. Unless his performance falls off dramatically next season, the Pistons will offer him at least $10-$11 million per year.
