I'm not a big Tyson Chandler fan. I just thought you all should know that.

He'd be a good fit with Yao Ming... Only if we had Rudy Gay and Swift to trade. Does not appear we have and assets to trade other than Head

Ohhh boy, another skinny, weak and underachieving PF with little to no offensive capabilities only this time making a ton more money.

Move over Swift, bring on Chandler.....sign me up!!

I'm not sure Tyson Chandler is a good fit here. He can't shoot. We need shooters. I can't imagine we have any assets the Bulls would be interested in anyway.

Perhaps. But I am not a believer. Chandler has done nothing but underachieve and disappear in critical game situations.

He's a competent rebounder....and that's about it. I guess he's blocked a shot or two. For a guy that athletic, he sure doesn't seem to be developing the instinct or the mental toughness to improve. His rebounding stats seem to be the only real improvement, and that is very likely a mere product of increased minutes.

How much is he being paid?

the Bulls need to start clearing up cap space to give extensions to their young core. so the Rockets can trade away expiring contracts and their T.E. Deke is probably a worse shooter than Chandler, but he was still considered a decent backup. Chandler can rebound way better than Stro, is several years younger and seems a little bit smarter and a little bit more durable (or a little more willing to play through minor injuries), considerably better on defense, and can actually spend a whole 10-15 minutes playing center and another 20 or so playing PF. actually, Yao could even play some PF on offense and center on defense with Chandler playing center on offense and power forward on defense. it could work. twin towers part two.

You want to take on that contract for, essentially, a backup center?

The Rockets have decided to go small with their PF, so Chandler wouldn't really fit in.

No more Tyson foolishness, he hasn't done anything in 3 years, he's the 2nd coming of the Stro Show.

Chandler makes too much money. He starts a 6 year 64M contract this year.

want him because we might have to give up to many assets

YAH that's the only reason I wouldn't want him because we might have to give up to many assets to get him.

i think that with a seven man rotation of Alston, James, Head, TMac, Battier, Chandler, and Yao and maybe Bonzi Wells ( wow, this looks really good on paper), the Rockets could have one of the most flexible and dynamic rosters in the league. they could go small, less small or HUGE.

i don't think that Chandler is just a backup center. i picture him playing alongside Yao more than behind him. whatever position that is, i don't know but that's the opponents' problem. he is only 23 years old still, actually almost 24 okay, and even without that dreaded "P" word, he is somewhat of a proven commodity that the Bulls were willing to pay $64 million for. he has about $55 million left i believe. i think that he can reasonably be a top 5 defender (think Camby or Ben Wallace) as long as he doesn't have to guard the big post up centers in the league (that was what Curry and now Yao are for). i mean NO ONE is going to be scoring inside against those two.

he is somewhat awkward offensively, but i think he would actually have more opportunities to score than Stro had in Houston just because Van Grundy would play him more for his defense and rebounding.

Great idea. Gives the Rockets flexibility to play big. Perfect big compliment to Yao. Last year per 48 minutes of play Chandler was tied for FIRST in the NBA with Dwight Howard at 16.2 rebounds. And on offensive boards the guy was tied for 3rd with 3.4. HE CAN REBOUND and he's young. That alone would make him a valuable addition. And who cares about his contract? It's all about winning now.

    Do it.

    Need I say more?

Howard is one heartbeat away from being loss for the season. We need a starting power forward. Hayes is still an unknown commodity, who knows if he can handle 35+ mins at PF, IMO he will always be a backup type player. If Chandler can be had for scrubs/TE/Future picks do it if you want to win now. Sign Mike James and call it an offseason.

    PG - James/Alston
    SG - TMac/James
    SF - Battier/Bowen
    PF - Chandler/Howard
    C - Yao/Deke

This lineup could match up with anyone defensively.

I would love Chandler as our starting PF, we don't necessarily need him to do much scoring. Rebounding and blocking are what we want next to Yao.

    NO!

He will be getting $55 million over the next 5 years, an average of about $11 million a year. Absolutely not worth it to have him on the offensive end with his man paying no attention to him and collapsing on Yao. That's another reason Shane Battier is such a good fit at the 4 spot, he will make teams pay for doubling Yao with his off the ball movement and range on his jumper. Tyson Chandler is not a good fit for this team.

I can't stress this enough: The Rockets are done looking at PF's for the summer. Battier/Howard/Hayes is our rotation with McGrady and Battier occassionally swapping at the 3 and 4. Maybe if an opportunity presents itself at Dawson's doorstep (something like Mike James making it clear he wants to come back to Houston), something like Reggie Evans for the TE might go down.
