Is anyone else worried about the speculation, that at the polls, Obama will lose 6% of his votes because he is an African American? Heading into the poll up by, 5/6, and he loses.....America may be in more trouble then we may think I mean it wasn’t that long ago when we had the Jena 6...unfortunately, racism still exists
Fivethirtyeight has a pretty good paper and hyperlinks on the lack of power of the Bradley effect. http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/10/if-bradley-effect-is-gone-what-happened.html One important part.
There are many black people voting for him almost exclusively because he is black, and there are many white people not voting for him almost exclusively because he's black.
It will cost him, not sure about the 6% estimate though. So he need to make the lead widen some more so there is no chance for that to happen.
Why is it that people only state that racism is white's against blacks. When everywhere you look the black people are very racist towards white people also. When you hear in the news black people stating to vote for obama because he is black that is racist. I am sick of this racism ****. This should be about economy and returning this once great country back into the most powerful country of them all.
From the article (good read) "The Pew study that I linked to above reports that 92 percent of Americans are now comfortable voting for an African-American for President." I hope its true. But, I also dont think anyone would ever admit or state openly, that "yea, im not voting for him bc he is an African American"..its something people hide. Thats why, behind that curtain, anonymously, people can vote how they like without being judged.
Yes, but the point is whether someone who said to a pollster that they would vote for Obama would vote for McCain on election day instead. There is no evidence that that would happen.
There was a "White Tree" in Louisina with nooses hanging from it. Racism exists, im sick of it too, but sick that it still exists.
Another good paper on the Bradley/Wilder Effect. http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenumbers/2008/10/the-bradley-eff.html
exactly. so this blacks voting for obama isn't really true. they vote for dems. obviously there will be a higher percentage of voter turn out this year, but you would expect that when the candidate can make history and they can identify with him. plus voting for your guy because he'll make history and in a country that had slavery until 150 years ago and black folks couldn't vote until 50 years ago IS NOT the same thing as not voting for him because he's black. 'second string negro at that.
the bradley affect will not nearly be as substantial as it was in the in 82 and not with Douglas Wilder in 89 in Virginia, who actually won but not by anywhere nears as much as he had been polling. Its just a different world, times change, i'm sure there are people who won't vote for him becuase he's black but nearly as much in 82
The one drop law is purely political not based on science at all. One drop was created to increase the pool of slave labor plan and simple.
exactly and it has left a legacy in this country that if you are any part black, you're considered black. obviously nowadays its up to the individual
