I was wondering...has anybody on this BBS has ever acted in a movie or a commercial or music video? I think it would be cool to be part of the background in a movie or TV show or something.
i've always dreamed of being in a "let's fight vd" contest in which "the grand prize is a trip to hollywood to be an extra in a movie with positive moral values." but seriously, i applied to be in an extra in "walker: texas ranger" when it was still running (i lived in dallas at the time), but those bastards never contacted me.
Dongrahamalone, (haven't seen him round lately, so I'll speak for him ) is an extra in the upcoming movie The Alamo.
In the summer of 2000 I had a few weeks to kill before law school started so I was an extra in the movie Pearl Harbor for the 3 days they shot here on the Battleship Texas. I think they then went to Corpus for, like, a week or so to shoot scenes on the carrier down there. As you could imagine it was alot of 'hurry up and wait'. We were on the deck of the ship for a loooong time -- and it was hot as hell. The cool thing was we got something like a hundred bucks a day -- which came in really handy since I was broke. The catered food was really good (or maybe I'm just not too difficult to please). Got to talk to Alec Baldwin on the second and third day of shooting. 'We' (yeah, do you like how I just throw around the collective 'we') were shooting a scene in the interior of the ship and there were only about 20 of us down there. He seemed really nice and down to earth. Ben Affleck on the other hand.........Although I don't want to draw too much into 3 days worth of observation. I'm sure he's a good guy. All in all, it was really fun.
I was an extra back in high school..Cocktail, Short Circuit 2, The Fierce Dreams of Jacki Watson, etc. Nothing really special happened. But my uncle was in Thailiand when they were filming that Michael J. Fox Nam oic, called Prisoner of War, I think. There is this scene where the 'army' is marching by, but as there weren't that many white guys in Nam, my uncle actually 'walks by' Fox and co. like 5 times....1 man, 5 tours of duty...Now that's doing your bit.
Remember around 1990 they made some really bad San Jac TV ads? I sadly was in several of them. I went to college out of state and came back 4 years later and they were still on the air. "So Where You Gonna Go?" Thank god they are no more. It was fun, but I liked working tech much better. oomp
Someone asked me if I wanted to be an extra in some movie this weekend. I don't get the impression it's a paid gig, but who knows. I likely won't be going.
My friend was an extra in Pearl Harbor back when they where filming part of the movie in Corpus Christi.
I know a girl who was in an Elvis Presley movie that was made a few years ago. She was a dancer at one of his performances.
My sister went to a casting call for extras for Evening Star, the sequel to Terms of Endearment. She received a call back but decided not to go because she had class.
Most of the time just watch the papers like the Press. They tend to look for actors willing to stand around all day for nothing but the joy of being in it. Also hang out with actors, they can smell a gig a mile away...
I applied for being cast as a movie extra. Went down to the casting agent, sat through long interviews, got my photo taken, my measurements recorded, and all my personal history down. Payed $120 to the agent.....one year on, and still no word from him. Worst $120 I ever spent.
My grandpa was Elvis' roomate before he got famous. Elvis worked nights, and he worked days, though, so they didn't know each other too well. Too bad I never got the chance to ask my grandpa for the full story. My 8th grade scince teacher was an extra in Twister. He played a paramedic. I hated watching twister all the thime and watching his face go by in slow motion like 10 times in a row.
I was an extra in 'Riding in Cars with Boys', 'Last Days of Disco', 'Sex in the City', 'A Japanese cigarette commercial with Charlie Sheen, where he met his ex-(model)wife. There was the blind/sight movie with Val Kilmer and Mira Sorvino as well. There were a few more that really aren't worth mentioning.
