okay, were gearing up to have one of the most anticipated offseasons in quite awhile. Seeing we made the playoffs and in my humble gave LA a good run for its money what should we do this offseason?
    Cato and the Green Maurice.
Popular opinion says go for a legitimate PF who can sort of be M. Taylor and K.Cato rolled into one."Yao needs a tough power foward to draw attention away from him,and who can score."
I'm of the few who think you dont need a offensive power foward to win championships or heck just win. I think what you want more from your starting power forward is defensive tenacity and nose for the ball skills and imposing fear in the paint. Look at the Pistons for reference.
I'm happy with our power forward position for now. The last thing you want to do is trade your future away for an instant solution. Not saying we shouldn't trade Taylor or Cato but getting something for equal value is most important. cato and Taylor are stilll fairly young. Can they grow any more as nba players? Not by much. But i'm more willing right now to stick with what we have than "gamble" with other commodities.
I thought during our playoff stretch we were one player away from really winning a couple of those close games. Most of the west has quality young depth. We on the other hand haven't much other than Taylor as a proven scorer . Sure Taylor isn't Dennis rodman when coming up for rebounds but he does have excellent range on his jumper for a power forward. He provided a nice spark.
Resting the Old ,bringing in the new.
What we really should go for this offseason is an every day energetic SF. Most of the games we lost but we should of won were bc of no legitimate SF. Sure Jim Jackson was awesome this season at the SF but that isn't his natural position. Taking that in but also can he hold up another 82 games next year? I don't think so. Minnesota tried to ride an old horse to victory but look where that got them.
    Underbiting potential.
Well, we have Bostjan Nachbar. Yes, I like all of you were rooting for the young slovenian. At such a young age he got under the skin of one Karl Malone, and along with that warmed every rocket fans heart. He certainly has some gifts. Coming into the league he was known as a slasher shooter type but credit to Van Gundy he's developing a nice in your face defensive game. Give credit to where credit is due we were awesomely improved in our D. Overall it's one of the bright spots from this season.
Other than getting a good young solid 3 and some more bench help will do better next season.

    Trade STEVE!
I dont think we should right now. I really liked what he did this playoffs. He was driving to the hoop, dishing off , creating opportunities for his teammates.Let's not forget almost averaging a triple double every game on one of the most unnerving stages, the playoffs. Sure he made few fumbles with the ball but steve has always been steve. Whats the hardest position to fill in basketball? C and PG. Sure we could land a potential Hall of Famer with a possible trade with a certain east coast team but can you honestly tell me that with Yao and Steve there isn't a possibility that they could develop a chemistry?
And remember chemistry sometimes just does not happen overnight. It takes years sometimes to gel. We all know Francis is a better shooter than what he showed this season so give him a break. I think much of his apprehension to the new offense was bc it was just that ..new. Those are my opinions about Francis . You may not like them but hey it's called freedom of the bbs press.

    Cut cuttino.
I'de have to say Cuttino was sub par during the playoffs. His defense was great but I really didnt see the Cat's offense.
Sometimes you have to just drive to the hoop, put away all the cross over dribble for ten seconds and just drive to the hoop. I think with the new system Cat and Steve really lost that. Was that bc of the new coach? No.
remember the Knicks when they made their run they had Latrell Sprewell. Sprewell ,if you could remember him in that system, drove the break when ever there was an opening.
You say ,"well can't do that when Yao's in the game." That is clearly wrong. Back when we won our championships we got out on the break even with Dream on the floor.
Could Possibly shooting for a shooting guard this offseason in FA and moving Cat in a bench role as a bobby jackson type player is the answer? I think so

    Catching my Yao.
I won't write about Yao but only three words ; Needs More Stamina.

So that was my pre-Offseason prep of my rocks. Go team Go!
