It's actually pretty darned good. I'd say you're overpaying a bit, but unless you want to build it yourself, you're getting a good deal. I'd be interested to know the brands of all those components. There is one thing I'd try to upgrade if you can -- see if you can get a Soundblaster Audigy instead of the Live!. The only thing is this -- you could get about 20% less performance for about 50% less, but for the stuff you've got up there, it's a kickass system (almost as good as mine . . . almost ), and you'll be VERY happy.
One minor point....The TV out jack on the GeForce card is nice. I made sure to get one on mine, now I can play DVDs on my TV (We never got around to buying a DVD player). It uses an S-Video connection. Just get an S-Video line and run it to your TV (assuming the TV has an S-Video jack). Couple this with an audio line off the sound card to the stereo system, and I get all the full theater effects. Sweet!
It shouldn't be 60 more -- see if you can talk them down a bit -- should only be about 30 to 40. A SB Live usually runs about 25 and I got my Audigy for 60. But yeah, it will be worth it. That's an Audigy X-gamer or MP3+ -- they're the same as the regular Audigy, just with a different software package and options.

(note: Dod asked me earlier, I dont need a monitor, I have one now)
Yeah, that second deal rocks. Still a bit expensive, but you get all the support and service stuff . . . Being HIGHLY critical, the only real weaknesses are: The Plextor 24x drive -- Plextor's always had the best burners, but of the 24x drives, the Yamaha just <i>barely</i> beat it out. Geforce Ti 200 -- A Ti 500 would be cooler That computer is very, VERY good DrewP. It's arguably better than what I have -- so don't get it . . . I want to retain bragging rights for a little while longer
Yeah, well I can still satisfy your girlfriend too! :ten of Drew's black friends start saying comments such as , "DAYAM!" and "OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH": Vengeance, Neither of those things concern me. I am kinda competing with my friend, but its just not fair. His father purchased a dell 8200 series, for about 2200 dollars. I figure I win though, because I spent 700 dollars less! HO YEA!
Sorry, I have a dual Athlon XP Processor 1800+ , 2 gig RAM, 240 gig- 4 drive RAID 0, nVideo GeForce 3 Titanium 200 64 mb DDR, SB Audigy GAMER w/firewire, etc. http://www.xicomputer.com/products/mtoweramd2p.asp Can't say I beat Drew's price, though.
Cohen, you do realize that your computer could overpower every computer in Russia combined? Thats sick, yet amusing.
I failed to mention one little problem...the Tyan MB blew and this machine is in the shop. It may have taken the boot drive with it (a standalone 100 gigger). I hope that it didn't mess with the RAID. It was kinda funny when I called tech support, the techs were like 'oh yeah, I remember yours, we all saw that box before it shipped'.
Nearly the same system: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAP...&showTutorial=0&ed=1010297565&indexURL=0&rd=1 I bid 1600 dollars. I dont think ill get it Im happy with this system that I am getting. Id like to get a LCD monitor , but I dont have the money currently. I suppose I'll wait till next birthday/Christmas days arrive. Hmmmm, I suppose I should order this computer any day now..............
DrewP -- Watch out buying PCs on ebay -- I love ebay, and have bought and sold lots of stuff on it. But a friend of mine bought a computer on ebay and never got it -- it happened to a whole bunch of people, and they're working on a class-action lawsuit. He lost almost a grand. Build one yourself. You'll save lots of money, and learn something at the same time. Cohen -- is that a server or graphics workstation, or do you just use it as another PC?
Pole, have you bought a computer from these people before? If so, Id like to hear your experience. I have gone to the BBB, and some other sites to check them out. VERY mixed reviews. Im a bit concerned, but I will soon buy a computer from them. But if someone would reassure me I would be greatly appreciative.
I have not bought from them; I "roll" my own. However, they currently have the number one "value" home system from PC World. http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,67458,00.asp
