As a beer fanatic, I would like to get some of ya'lls feedback on good beer. Personally I am not a huge fan of dark beer. I like light beers and some ales. Here are my favorite domestics: DOMESTIC Shiner Bass Pale Ale Sierra Nevada Pete's Wicked Ale IMPORT Heineken Foster's Stella Artois Corona Dos Equis CHUGGING Keystone Light Miller Lite Bud Light Coors Light Natural Light
Bass is a domestic? Domestic Pete's Wicked Broklyn Lager Sam Adams (their winter ale is excellent) Turbo Dog Import Bass Harp Tennets
For reasons of family tradition, I only buy (if I can help it) Dos Equis. When I lived in Chicago, though, I also bought Goose Island.
god, where do I start? LOCAL (Houston) St. Arnold Lawnmower St. Arnold Weizen DOMESTIC New Belgium's Fat Tire Abita Purple Haze Abita Wheat Celis White IMPORT -Mexican Corona Dos Equis Pacifico Sol -English Boddingtons -German/Euro St. Pauli's Girl Bavaria Hoegaarden Grolsch Warsteiner -Japanese Asahi CIDERS Hard Core Cider Ace's Berry Cider and many more! rH
next to free beer, Guiness The only time I get something else is when I need something colder or need a bottle. When I want something colder, or if I have to buy a bottle, I go for the good pilsners and wheats. Spatan and EKU are pretty stellar. That expensive-ass Belgium Leffe is worth spoiling yourself on. Same with the monk beers, which I don't know by name, only by sight. I buy St. Arnolds at grocery stores that don't have the imports. I don't bother with the stouts in a bottle, since I am way too critical of them due to my love of Guiness.
Det....name some good German beers in a bottle. I understand the drafts are much better (same with England beers), but don't tease me...we can't get them. What do you recommend in Belgium?
Chimay? Made by Trapist Monks. Those are some happy Monks! Two bottles of that stuff and the beer goggles are ON!!!
The absolute best beer comes from Belgium. No body can replicate what they do. The lambic varieties are not cheap though (more of a special occasion beer). My favoriate beer: Timmerman's raspberry variety (this belgium beer is NOTHING at all like cheap imitation raspberry or other beers with fuity flavoring added after fermination like many American Microbrewries try to produce in mass). Other great beers: Heat of summer: Steinlager, Molson Golden, Tsing Tsoh (Sp?-great with spicy food), Grolsh or a standard wheat beer (many similar variates from various brewries) w/lemon. Cool of winter: Bass/Guiness makes a nice starter before drinking more Guiness. Young's Outmeal Stout. And gr-8, you may find these beer are BETTER warm. Other times: Chimay($), Negro Modelo, Dos Equis, most Octoberfest varieties (Sam Adams and Paulander are very good), Anchor Steam, and Bass are among my favorites. I don't know of a mediam priced Belgium variety to suggest here.
I like domestic beers, but I really prefer imports. As for Mexican beer, I can't drink anything I have to put a lime in to make it taste good. I do like a Dos Equis every once in awhile, though. Domestic: Bud Light Michelob Imported: -- Dark Beers -- Newcastle Brown -- They have it ice cold and on tap at Bennigan's. This is my all-time favorite. I'd swear the stuff is brewed up in the mountains by virgins. Guiness is excellent. -- Light Beers -- Amstel Light Heiniken Caffrey's
