anyone have an idea on the size of the US cattle industry in dollars? I also have a number that says we eat about 14.6 billion lbs of beef a year, is that right? also does anyone know the size of the entire meat industry in the US? reason being, i have a debate tomorrow on vegetarianism and i'm in the meat lovers side. the point i want to focus on is the economic cost of eliminating the current meat market. I appreciate any help.
Can you find a copy of Fast Food Nation tonight? That book has more info on the beef industry than you could ever stomach. Admittedly, it made me hungry for a fast food burger, but still...
ive read it before, although people that i know who read it had the opposite effect towards their taste in fast food. right now i have a book with figures but its in the 1980s, and stuff i read on the internet on the subject makes no sense to me.
Have you tried this site? Industry worth $175 billion in 2003. 27.1 billion lbs of beef produced in 2002 in the U.S. Imported 3.2 lbs of beef. and on, and on. They cite Colorado State U., and I know they have a big agriculture program there that specializes in cattle.
