How long do you think it will take the ROX to become a real Power House in the NBA like the lakers, Sac, and SA? Is this the year it happines, or we still have many years to wait? What do you have to say on this topic...

I think that we will show ourselves as a legitimate power this year and after a free agent or two, we could be the top or second power in the West for years to come.

It al kind of depends on how we respond this year.

They may start if we are able to knock off the Mavs and Suns later this week.

If Van Gundy has it his way - you can be looking at within a year or two when people will be saying oh crap we are playing the Rockets. I dont think it will happen this year, but as the year goes by people will start turning heads and keep their eyes on the Rockets. But the key thing is = injuries, and the Rocket's DESIRE to prove the NBA that they are here to STAY!

If there are five powerhouses, then is there one powerhouse?

Not that it's anything official, but being #7 on ESPN's power rankings (ahead of Sac-town) is a nice start.

    :D

Van Gundy is the difference here...

Rockets are all accountable...the sky is the limit...

im not sure if sactown is a power house anymore, like one article said recently, there window of oppurtunity may have passed...

    Hard to say

JVG is bringing a win-every-single-friggin-game intensity that we've never seen before. Of course, we can't win every game, but when you couple that hunger with his coaching abilities, our talent... momentum... and with good players soon to join us off IR... our potential for greatness is huge.

I'd say that right around January or February we're really gonna be on fire (after our players have had time to gel together, learn the new offense/defense, start believing in themselves, get well, forget about current off-court problems, etc.)

First we need some more POWER forwards!

no Moochie would be good, too.

When the Rockets finally get a legit power forward (Cato plays out of position), then the Rockets will become the real deal.

This will probably happen right about the same time that MN and MT come off the books.

regardless of mo's current situation, he was playing really well and would resolidify the PF situ. that's my personal opinion.

EG on the other hand is a complete wildcard. he's shown zero percent of his potential, but if he actually gets some help during his "break", who's to say he won't come back w/ some desire and intensity and really start to contribute. imagine that... EG and Mo living up to there potential. if that happened, we'd be thrown into the championship fray almost immediately, IMHO.

but i aint holding my breath.....

Yep. I like that word: accountable. From the 1st player to the 12th. The standard has been set. No slackers! Not much left to do except tinker here and there (Tayor, Griffin, Moochie?).

Maybe a third free-agent (PF or backup point). Maybe our draft. It's all so much easier when the core group of guys are in place and are playing TEAM ball.

Sit back and watch the show.... :D

I think after this year, the Rockets, at worst, will be categorized where Minnesota is now, and then categorized next year where San Antonio and Dallas are now. At best, by the end of the season, they'll be categorized where San Antonio and Dallas are now, and by next year will be categorized where the Lakers are now.

Honestly, I think Yao has to play better for us to be a powerhouse. Hard to imagine the backcourt getting much better than it is. Yao needs to be a consistent and dangerous inside threat to open up the rest of the floor and balance out the team so that everyone can remain effective and get the space the offense needs to work.

If Steve and Cat can continue how they're playing, whenever Yao show's dominance inside is when we'll be a premier team.

And that is absolutely true! It all depends on Yao! Yao will determine how far we will go! We have a solid guards, now if YAO can be more assertive and try to become more dominating and show some of that fire like he did with Juwan Howard then we'll be going in the right direction! He needs ot know he CAN dominate the games! But he has to SHOW it and WANT it!
No more babying Ming! Now it is time to PUSH him and make him dominate the game!
