You know, it's interesting to follow some of the longtime clutchfans over the years and see how their lives grow and change. I feel like I've almost seen some of you grow up and go through different stages, relationships, etc. As for me...

I am pregnant. Really. This is the first time for me. I'm about 10 1/2 weeks along. Yes, we did plan this, but we were shocked that it worked on the first try. At least it should stay in my body until the spring semester ends.

This whole thing is kicking my tail, though. Morning/noon/night sickness. Stomach refusing to cooperate. I feel constantly icky right now. I got some nausea meds and am trying to follow all the standard advice. But there's only so much you can do. Guys, be glad you will never have to go through this. It's harder than I thought it would be. Anybody have any stories - of themselves or more likely their wives/girlfriends - of how they made it through this part? I still need to be able to get up and go to work after all.

Congratulations, Isabel! Having watched my wife go through the entire process, I am, indeed, glad I'm a man.
That said, she would tell you this: It's TOTALLY worth it!

Pregnancy will be the longest nine months of your life. The following nine months with be the shortest span of time you will likely ever experience. Enjoy every second.

    Cheers!

Congrats! Don't worry...the sickness will go away after the first trimester. At least you won't be going through the toughest of it during the summer. My wife did both times and it made it tougher. It was all worth it, though.

Congrats Isabel! I remember my wife (now my ex)'s pregnancy very well. She had a fibroid tumor which meant no C section delivery. Then at 20 weeks, she started having Braxton-Hicks contractions. She had to be hospitalized for several days and put on a morphine drip and be given Breathine. She recovered and didn't have any other complications although she had to be on bedrest (which she didn't really follow all the time). As soon as she went off the Breathine, she started having contractions again. I'll never forget all the false starts and driving to the hospital with her, only to be told she hadn't dilated enough and be discharged. Then told to come back again because she had blood in her urine...

Any way, we got through it and now I enjoy my son (he is 2 and a half) more than anything in the world. Just promise me that you and your husband will always do what is best for your child even if that means raising him or her in separate households. :(

Dammit that thread came too late!!!

Seriously, though, congratulations - can't wait for the pic post. Hmmm, 10-1/2 weeks - that makes he/she due late April, early May. Is that about right?

    Congratulations.

My wife was on bed rest for 6 months with our first kid. Just about killed us all. Even after that we had another. Now they are 9 and 11 and worth all the sacrifice.
