We need a playoff system. The BCS is a joke. Mike Leach was talking about it on ESPN last week about TCU and Boise St. and how NCAA needs a playoff system. (something I agree with....)
This is ridiculous. They're trying to schedule a game for a season when most teams already have their schedules made. It's an easy way for them to say "look everybody is afraid of us" without really having to risk anyone accepting the invite.
Just about to post pretty much the same thing. The BCS is a joke and these BCS schools scheduling the likes of Youngstown State, Richmond, etc. is an even bigger joke.
yea, seems pretty silly. this probably part of what this PR group they hired to help them get a BCS bid told em to do.
Out of conference schedules are usually set 3-5 years in advance - how many teams even have open dates? **** boise state. i don't care about them. Uh, 1st ranked FCS team and defending national champ Richmond has a win over an ACC school this year (as does downstate rival W&M, #4 FCS team) and even received several top 25 votes in the AP FBS poll this year. I doubt too many BCS teams want to play them due to the huge risk/low reward.
Word up on that one. Boise State is like a whiny little kid. The BCS schools (the real ones) are tested every single week in conference. Meanwhile Boise is getting scares from Louisiana Tech. They can get amped up for 1 non-conference game and coast for the next 10 weeks. Until they paint their turf green, join a real conference, keep their punk players from talking trash and getting jacked in the face, and erase all records of Zabransky from their history they can shove it.
You act like BSU just started making their schedule. They probably have been trying to work something out for awhile now, and nothing has been coming up. Don't act like BCS schools aren't dodging BSU, when they're playing Division I-AA schools. The fact that this article come out now doesn't mean BSU started scheduling now. This is just an easy way for BCS fans to say, look we already made our schedules, with Division I-AA creampuffs, without having to risk playing BSU. BSU is giving up a lot already to get a game scheduled and no one's biting. One game at anyone's place without a return date at BSU. You can argue that their is no point for BCS schools to risk playing BSU, but stop making trying to make excuses that BCS schools are willing to play BSU.
**** BS U. They have a hard enough time beating teams like UC freakin Davis, Tulsa and Louisiana Tech.
Since you seem to be in the know, please elaborate on these multi-year efforts of Boise State to fill a hole in its schedule that most teams filled up several years ago. Thanks. What's more likely is they had a cancellation and they had to scramble around for an opponent. That's what happened to Texas when BCS wannabe Utah cancelled this year.
Whats there to elaborate on? You said teams try to schedule 3-5 years in advance, why is BSU the exception? Oh right, because BSU doesn't offer as much of a challenge as FCS schools. Since you seem to be in the know, please elaborate on they're cancellation they had Thanks. I never said I'm in the know. But what I do know is 1)BSU has an opening in their schedule, yet BCS schools are scheduling FCS schools. You would think they would to find other FBS schools before resorting to creampuffs. 2)BSU wants to schedule BCS schools, BCS schools to busy handling FCS schools. The opportunity is there to shut BSU up, yet no one wants to do it. Again I can see an argument against playing BSU, but stop making excuses and saying some schools aren't dodging BSU.
What's in it for the BCS schools? 1. They win - they still need to go undefeated in conference or win the conference bowl game. A win over Boise when they have a good season may get you in over another 1 loss team but that's about it. 2. They lose - your done ... Oregon may get in this year but they needed USC to blow a game. 3. An exciting game for the home fans! - they don't want a close game; they want blow outs; a feel good ego booster. The teams playing for the BCS will sell out for LSP (Little Sisters of the Poor) they don't require "name" match-ups. There is just no upside for an AD to schedule Boise.
That's not true - many, many BCS vs BCS games are scheduled one or two years out every year. There are plenty of teams that still have an opening or two in their non-conference schedule. Just because Texas schedules out all their games that far in advance doesn't mean other schools do.
they dont? weird, i know for college basketball, non conference schedules are determined years in advance
I can guarantee more schools will schedule Boise State when they get rid of that blue turf Seriously, it's ugly.
