I wouldn't call it hatred, more like contempt. The Big 10, especially Michigan, usually gets so much more air time, media attention, and higher rankings than they warrant. Like when they split the NC a few years ago when everyone knew the best team was in Lincoln, when that year everyone also knew the best college player in the land was, and the Heisman should have gone to, Manning. You know, the kind of thing that ND, Michigan, and to a slightly lesser extent, the Buckeyes get, I guess call it contempt for the "Midwest bias". Personally, I don’t hate Michigan (no comment for ND though ), again it is better described as contempt. Just a hunch, but I am not sure a single non-ND or non-Michigan WR or DB has ever won the Heisman. Coincidence, I think not. Anyway, I have given you some insight for the reasons of my contempt.
