    Looks like Auburn will be left out of the National championship


    USC vs OU in the Orange Bowl...
    Michigan vs ???? in Rose Bowl....

    Who cares about the others...lol

    Below are SI.com's Dec. 5 bowl projections (with our assumption, based on the latest AP poll, that Texas will move past Cal and into the BCS). First, a few important disclaimers:

    1) Only teams currently at .500 or above, and with enough games remaining to become bowl eligible, are considered.
    2) No attempts are made to predict future results. In the case of ties, the higher-ranked team is used as the conference's champion.
    3) Remember, in most cases, bowls do not have to select a conference's teams based on their order of standing. I.e., the Gator Bowl gets second choice of ACC teams but does not have to select its second-place team.
    4) Clemson and South Carolina, who are both bowl eligible, have refused bowl bids because of the brawl in their season finale. Virginia has said it would not accept a bid to the Champs Sports Bowl because it conflicts with its final exams.

    Teams in bold have already accepted their invitations.

    AP Poll...
    Utah stayed at No. 5, with Texas next. The Longhorns, trying to catch the Bears for a spot in the BCS, have 1,337 points -- that puts them 23 points closer to Cal in the AP poll than last week.

    ESPN/USA Today coaches poll...
    Cal is No. 4, but its lead on No. 5 Texas shrunk from 48 points to five.

    Sounds like enough points to push Texas past Cal into #4 and a BCS bowl bid.

    The Rose bowl should have the Big 10/Pac 10 if it's not the championship game. I love the Horns but Cal hasn't played the Rose for 46 years: let em' have it.

    If we needed 13 mil we can just start naming the bathrooms at Memorial after the fatcats who pile on the cash.
    (that's all that's left , right?)

    FYI, because the Big 12 already has 1 BCS team, the 2nd game pays out only $4.5 million. Also, the money is just about evenly spread out throughout all 12 teams, so we get almost the same cut as Baylor unfortunately.

    Of course, Cal and Texas should both be in the BCS, no doubt. You can argue about Utah, but Pitt has no business there. One 10-1 was going to get screwed. Because of the fiascos from 2001 and 2003 when Texas got left out, they've earned the right to play in the Rose.

    Sportsradio 610 here in Houston said a source close to them said they were going to the Rose Bowl.

    They being UT.

    man, i remember dreaming about a UT/michigan matchup in the Rose last year, which would've let us play michigan for the first time ever and i assume go to the Rose for the first time ever. who knew we'd just have to wait an extra year for the exact same situation to present itself. hopefully it all works out b/c that's a marquee matchup right there.

    oh yeah so did anyone see in the coaches poll how one coach split his first place vote among the top 3 teams?

    since the poll actually has the thirds listed for their first place votes, apparently you can do it. and if you can, why don't more people do it? if so many think all these teams are so equal, why not have 1/3's and 1/2's everywhere. it would make it too crazy but apparently you can do it.
