A friend told me about this BBC show and I just finished watching it...HILARIOUS! It's like nothing you've seen on U.S. television. Anyone else seen it?
I loved this show too. I don't remember how I found out about it, but I downloaded all the eps sometime last year.
I couldn't stop laughing while I was watching that show. The British sure have a wicked sense of humor.
call me unpatriotic, but british sitcoms are loads more entertaining to me than any reality tv show i can think of.
A buddy from law school told me about 'The Office' last year. I watched the first series and couldn't believe how absolutely funny it was. For those who've seen the 'training' episode: Gareth: "Two lesbians.....sisters......I'm just watching."
I've never seen it but I've heard a lot about it. Thanks to Netflix, the first season should be arriving tomorrow for weekend viewing pleasure.
Trainer: (pause) Tim? Tim: I never thought I'd say this, but I'd like to hear more from Gareth, please. The two hour special is classic.
I'm glad Ricky Gervais decided to stop after 2 series and the one special. That way every episode will be strong enough to stand the test of time. You may get to see Little Britain also if you are getting some BBC comedies. Gloriously un-PC and some memorable characters. Sadly I don't think you'll get to see any of Peter Kay's work as he doesn't work for the Beeb. If you can get any of his stuff(stand up routines, That Peter Kay Thing, both series of Phoenix Nights and to a lesser extent the Max & Paddy spin off) then do. We've been blessed with some great comedy shows lately.
\ Gotta admit I havent caught Office....seen the commericals on BBC America...but keep forgetting to Tivo it... now Coupling on the other hand....is one hilarious show.. not quite as good imo since Jeff left...but still worth a watch anytime its on.
The Xmas Specials are amazing also. This show is as close to perfection as it gets; it is really beautiful. The New Yorker called it "so funny you don't laugh, so you good you can't watch it." I love that show.
http://turbine.slackworks.com/robots/Dave/freelovefreeway.mp3 You'll be stuck singing it for the rest of your workday, but it's worth it.
huh Jeff left... when did that happen... we are just getting a new series here, well for us and i think he is still in it.... the series we are currently getting started with the double episode with Jeff on the date while on the handfree mobile with the other listening absolutely hilarious you don't happen to know anywhere to download it... otherwise i am sure the BBS will get around to releasing it on DVD
The Office is without question my favourite show of all time. Seriously. http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/theoffice/ The guy who plays the main character, Richard Gervais, takes it up a notch in stand-up acts "Politics" and "Animals". Great stuff. For those of you that likes this humour I can also recommend Eddie Izzard with for example "Glorious" and "Definite article". Cheers.
