Those stretches where McHale's benching Lin in favor of Beverley's defense doesn't seem to have registered with Jeremy. He's been way too lax and unprincipled on the defensive end lately. Harden too, but that's nothing new unfortunately.

Coach Nick sure watches the game differently than I do...I can picture myself sounding like a total idiot trying to keep up with Nick in a basketball related conversation.

We all agree that Lin shouldn't have been benched so long during the 3rd and 4th quarter.
Lin got benched in the 3rd with 5 minutes left and got subbed in with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. That is 12 minutes on the bench. When he was benched we saw a lead of 10+ pts evaporated, after that he got subbed in and went icecold.
During the 10+ pts evoration McHale should've called for a timeout way earlier before the lead was gone. And at the timeouts McHale should've stop with the isolation plays and demand the team for more ballmovement.
Sometimes Harden should stand at the 3point line instead of 3feet away from it, so that if someone pass him the ball he could immediately shoot it or pump fake it. But instead he needs to dribble it to get a shot.

Dirty play by Pau. He elbowed Lin's face.

    1. No not everyone agree with you about the benching time.
    2. That 12 minutes "CLOCK TIME" was actually 20 minutes "ON YOUR WATCH"!

Lin wasn't moving off ball for the 3pt shot and neither was Harden.

I think they just both got kinda scared cos the game was being put on their shoulders.

I think most people would agree that up until the 4th quarter, Lin was playing fairly well, shooting 4/9, 2/5 from 3, and 6/1 ass/TO, and was pretty much shutting down Blake (no FTs attributed to Lin's play, shot 4-15 against Lin (10pts=33%TS=horrible). Lin left in the 3rd w/ an 8 point lead and came back with the game tied. Objectively, I'm not sure how you could argue that Lin was not left on the bench too long in the 4th. Now of course knowing now how things would turn out, you'd most definitely would want Lin's butt on the bench for rest of the game.

Lin tends to watch the ball when he guards someone off ball. The video itself shows 2 or 3 times of that. At 1:16 he also made a mistake by doubling howard, causing harden to rotate to the corner leaving Meeks open at the top of they key.

Some of you only focus on how he defends his man, and you cannot understand why Mchale benches him. I've watched almost every rockets game this year, this poor off ball defense of him has been there for the whole year. It is his tendency to that, and it is definitely something he has to work on in the off-season.

Harden is another thing. I absolutely hate it when he just stands around, or he takes his time to make a move. If you watch the video he barely got past the half court line most of the time under 8 seconds. WITH JODIE MEEKS GUARDING HIM. This is something i really despise. Get over the line and save the seconds. Imagine all the bad plays with 4 more seconds, not too bad right?

The coaching staff has also got to do a better job. The last play, should have been some sort of pick and roll with harden as a decoy, then delfino running off a few weakside screens with gasol chasing him. It is really the coach's responsibility to think of these plays and respond to certain matchups. I understand Delfino is there to spread gasol out, but you have to make use of it, at least use it as a decoy for maybe harden to penetrate. Simply put, our offense is too simple, too predictable and not enough in game adjustments are made. If these kind of things still happen at the end of the season, I'm not sure they will ever be corrected. The coaching staff either has to improve their decisions by looking at all these during the off season, or they have to go if Rockets want to win a championship.

Going up against OKC, i think the only chance we can beat them in a game is if they play a running match with us and forget about their own defense. That being said, the Rockets have achieved so much this season, but they are still far away from being a championship contender, and getting the second star will not guarantee that success if these issues are not settled.

The only thing holding Parsons back is something he really can't control. He's just not an elite NBA athlete. Should end up being a very nice player ala Ryan Andersen. That's pretty damn good.

It's not so much about who was or why he was benched, but sitting on the bench for 12 minutes is just never a good idea. Completely gets players out of their rhythm, and they come an ice-cold and sore.

That's my main issues with McHale's rotations, he just leaves players in and players on the bench for way too long. He should be mixing players in and out rather than just going for one lineup 10 minutes and another lineup for another 10 minutes.
