http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/23/AR2006082301118.html Ex Rocket Baxter was sentenced to two month in jail. Is it me or does it seem like more NBA players have flirted with troubles with gun than other athletes?
das a big ole terrorist if he is at gitmo, they better give him a double helping of gruel, on the plus side we can we get some photoshopped images of him and that chick giving him the thumbs up?
nba stars are mostly all gangers. well okay not most of them, but the ones that are well known, can be really ghetto since they play bball with other tough kids. all i know is, if i was making that much cash, i would spend my time looking to invest in other venues rather than look for ways to be ignorant..
i mean come on these guys can earn 100 million dollars before they are 30 and have a marketable face but how many are billioniares after they retire managing their financial empire? none. Only Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan come close and even they have made plenty of misteps.
No, man...investing is for suckers. I get a 2 year, $2 Million contract...that basically gives me around $500K a year. Instead of living off of $80K, I am going to buy $300,000 worth of jewelry, a $250,000 Bentley, spend $100,000 on clothes and then blow the rest partying in hot-spots around the country. Then, when I get cut or injured, I am broke. That's the way to live
Has there been any word on just what the heck Baxter was playing at? If there was any kind of terrorist concern clearly he'd be going away for a lot longer than a couple of months...
Thats not always the case. The problem is you only hear about the bad apples in the bunch. The Lonny Baxter story was all over the news. The Mutombo story about the hospital was reported but not in the same way. Dennis Rodman gave a large amount of money to James Byrds family after the dragging death. The good stories sometimes barely make a headline and that is part of what is wrong with the media.
What do you expect, though? It's not "news" when a businessman writes a $20,000 check to a charity or when someone stops on the side of the road to change an elderly person's flat tire. That's not salacious or interesting in the media's eyes. Instead, they show the fiery car crashes and the jewelry store that just got robbed. It's not just athletes where the "bad apples" of the bunch are highlighted. It's society in general.
good summary. He should have thought about his future b4 he fired a weapon in the air near the presiden's pad
