Bracket A: 1) The Beatles 8) Guns N Roses G 'N' R was the best band of the 80's and produced plenty of great songs, those of which I like. All of this means nothing comapred to the Beatles. 5) Rush 4) Van Halen I don't like one song by Rush. Van Halen had a great, unique sound. If this was basketball, it'd be the most lopsided 4/5 matchup ever. 6) The Cure 3) The Doors Who else sounds like Jim Morrisson? That guy is great. 7) Grateful Dead 2) Eagles Rage>Eagles to me, but, alas, this is the way it is. I don't really know enough of either's music to accurately make an assessment, but I do like some songs by the Eagles. Bracket B: 1) The Rolling Stones 8) REM R.E.M. has got a few good songs, but this comparison is a joke. 12) Soundgarden 4) KISS Soundgarden is badass. KISS is overrated crap, sorry. 6) Nirvana 3) Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers I'm gonna go research Tom Petty and try and figure out why they're a 3-seed. Nirvana is pure, raw goodness that as an angry teenager I love. 7) Red Hot Chili Peppers 2) The Who All the facts point to the Who being a better band. I'm basing this one off what sounds good to me and what I grew up with. Bracket C: 1) Led Zeppelin 8) The Clash The 8-seed is another Punk pioneer which I've never heard anything by. I'm going to look into them. Even if I knew their stuff and I loved all of it, Led Zep is the greatest band of all-time. 5) Black Sabbath 4) AC/DC Has there ever been a band that was just as successful after they lost their lead singer than they were before? I think not. I love how their greatest songs feature both. 11) Creedence Clearwater Revival 3) ZZ Top CCR is one of my favorite Classic Rock bands. They have produced more more memorable sounds (hits, I suppose) then ZZ Top has. Also, I will forever hold a grudge against ZZ as they defeated STP. 7) The Ramones 2) Aerosmith Aerosmith overrates themselves. That's understandable as they are classic. All these are pretty predictable except Black Sabbath vs. AC/DC and CCR vs. ZZ Top. Those matchups are gonna be good. Bracket D: 1) Pink Floyd 8) Depeche Mode Pink Floyd is a little too...different... for me, but I do know they are better than their opponent. 5) Pearl Jam 4) U2 This has been the hardest choice for me yet. Impossibly hard. I like more songs by U2, but PJ's best is better than U2's to me. 11) The Police 3) Metallica Again, Sting ANNOYS me! Metallica is the definition of badass. I love how Black Sabbath is even in competition with AC/DC. AC/DC is 20 times better, and has had a hell of a lot more music put out. Has anyone even listened to Black Sabbath after 1979?
