Shane Battier… Bat man… the glue guy… the no-stats allstar… the floor general… the next president of the United States… and self-proclaim post-Christmas shooter… needs to do something he probably should have done a long time ago: Get his Web site in order. While it has not been confirmed that this is his personal domain, or a third party’s, there is a dorky looking picture of Battier on the front page welcoming curious visitors that has gone unchanged for some time now. The Web site’s domain name is ShaneBattier.com and appears to be under construction. A front page JPEG image displays embedded text that reads “the new ShaneBattier.com will be launching soon.” I investigated when the JPEG on the front page displaying the “coming soon” message and found it was last modified Dec. 8, 2006. After about three years of sitting untouched, it would be nice to see a Web site for fans to check and get updates on him similar to the ones most players of high status have for people to visit. Honestly, as long as he plays well I’m happy with him and have no legit complaints to make. However, three years to put off completing a Web site for someone of his stature in sports? He’s not just the no-stats allstar at this point, he’s a no Web site allstar. What do you guys think? Should he get his Web site going? Maybe throw in a blog? I doubt it would distract him too much since he’s a tech-savvy kinda’ guy. side note: In case you're curious, to find out the date of a site's last update, right click it and hit view image... and then in the page's address bar type javascript:alert(document.lastModified)
just cause it has his name on it does not mean it is his site. on the internet anyone can (and does) register a site name purely for the reason to sell it to the rightly owner of the name. this thread is just about as useless as many of the threads detailing the thread starter's personal opinion on where mcgrady may or may not go.
That domain is registered to someone in Portugal. Might not be owned by Shane or anyone he's affiliated with.
I said it hasn't been confirmed that it is in fact his site. I suspect it is his though because there is an ad on the bottom for his updates. I'm not saying it is though, that's no enough to make anything concrete as far as evidence is concerned. Also I don't see how you can even begin to compare something that took me 15 minutes to write and research to a thread about unrealistic McGrady pondering. You just had to bring him up in a thread he isn't even related to.
How did you find this out? I don't know who owns it but IF Shane owned it and didn't keep up with it and renew his name rights, he could have lost it. OR someone entirely different made the Web site. Still doesn't change the central idea of what I write, which is should Battier have a Web site at this point in his career?
Funny boy, I dare you to find ONE post from me taking a side in all this stupidass crap that swirls thru this forum on a daily basis about mcgrady I compared how useless this thread is to how useless most of those mcgrady threads are....and considering the news about who actually owns the domain name, Id say my initial reaction was spot-on
??? I never said you took a side. I don’t know what your problem is or who pissed you off today but I said in my original post that I wasn’t sure if it was a third party of not. Get over yourself.
lol, yet the rest of your posts have gone off the assumption that it IS his and somehow be faulted for not doing something with it. anyway, we have enough stupid threads today and since you dont seem capable of discussing this once someone gives you crap for it, this thread is toast EDIT: whois is your friend It is entirely unlikley that Battier would register his domain from a foreign country
