Yeah James is a pretty bad flopper, that's from when Derrick Rose was in the playoffs against the Heat, so you know that's almost ancient.

But he's definitely not the only one.

Sad, but Battier speaking the truth. They should think about fining guys starting with 25k, then second offence 50k, third one 100k, fourth 150k and fifth 250k!

I'd like to see a larger fine, as well as a technical foul called in game.

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>RT @<a href="https://twitter.com/christomasson">christomasson</a>: LeBron makes $17.54M. Being fined $5K is 0.02849% of his salary. That's equivalent of one making $50K being fined $14.25</p>&mdash; Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) <a href="https://twitter.com/BleacherReport/status/340130122617217025">May 30, 2013</a></blockquote>

Would be crazy if they started fining based on perentage of salary. But that is unlikely since I don't think NBA teams generally release exact salaries for players anyway.

He's speaking the truth in that money talks but everyone knows $5k is a joke. Every player will flop to get a call at a critical juncture in a playoff game and gladly pay the fine. They definitely need to up the fine.

Suspension would be equivalent to fining based on salary. Of course the league doesn't get the money. But the player loses his pay and the team loses the player. That would decrease flopping like magic.

    flopping violation = technical foul

    3 flopping violations = 1 game suspension

I think that would end it pretty quickly.

Yeah, the NBA would love to be able to market game 4 of the conference finals without the MVP of the league and 2 of the top players on the opposing team. Hey it's all about the integrity of the game, right?

The fines for flopping should be based on a percentage of the player's salary that season. Something like 1% would be a good number IMO. That way if a league minimum player flops he gets fined for $10K, but if a max player flops he gets fined $200K.

The league's stars should be held to a higher standard anyway, not a lower standard.

Or at least brackets. Under $5M = $10K fine. $5M-$10M = 20k fine. $10M-$15M = 40k fine. $15M and up = $80K fine. LeBron might think twice about flopping if it's put to him in terms of, you can have that flop or you can have that new Porsche for your garage.

That, and actually ENFORCE flopping penalties. It shouldn't take viral gifs to make the NBA assign penalty. They should have people go over videos and enforce them as they appear.

Regardless of the fine, it's pointless if the league won't enforce the rule on the biggest culprits.

What if they set up a site where people could submit videos? Even better, to help them sift through the videos, what if people could up/down vote whether they thought it was a flop? There are so many flops that even with the current fines, I bet players would slow it down quite a bit.
