Any idea how serious of an injury this is, and what kind of time we're looking at?

Last time Chuck Hayes was out for like 2-3 weeks with a hyperextended knee if I remember correctly.

Basically. It's a strained knee. 1-3 weeks is the average recovery rate.

Look at the bright side, we get to see more of C-Bud which we all want to see anyways.

I hope Battier gets well soon.

Hopefully it's not worse like an ACL injury.

We need to trade him this off-season and he needs to be healthy....

Start playing Bud and Hill 30 minutes a game. Might as well call up JT and let him play some SG. Rest them starters and start tanking.

    Lowry (setting up their shots)
    JT
    Bud
    Hill
    Andersen

A hyper-extended knee is not that bad.

Hyperextension injuries can damage ligaments, cartilage and other stabilizing structures in your knee. If your knee absorbs a strong, sudden force when your leg is straight and tense — a common scenario in car crashes — the injury may be severe. Your knee could be dislocated and several knee ligaments could be torn or detached from adjoining bones and muscles.

In sports, the damage from a hyperextended knee is usually less extensive. The effects might be limited to bruising, swelling and pain when you try to straighten your knee. On the other hand, forceful hyperextension may tear one of your knee ligaments, frequently the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

At best its Day-to-day. At worst it's like a severely sprained/strained knee. ACL tears are much, much worse.

    I stand corrected.

I still don't think it looked that bad though.

An acl injury involves partial or complete tear of ligaments. A hyperextended knee just means the knee extended a bit too much, but not enough to tear or break anything. One involves months to get bavk the other is just a few weeks, maybe less.

This is a month at most injury and it would have to be pretty severe for that. I would say it looks like less than a month before he is back but really, no need to push it. Our chances to make the playoffs are sitting at about 1-2% as is.

i think you'd still be correct in this case...that link is mostly refering to a hyperxtension when the foot is planted and stays planted for the most part. Battier seemed to already be leaving his ffet if not already in the air when it happened. Not to mention he walked it off fairly easily.

It's a blessing in disguise. Rest Battier up for next year and let Bud develop.
