If Magics matched mavs' offer, is it feasible for Magics to make a trade with Rox? Battier for Gortat? Doesn't it make sense? Battier could immediately adapt to magics' system. He doesn't need too many chances of shots, while Nelson, Carter, Lewis all need chances of shots. And Magics really needs someone to defend Lebron or Kobe in the finals since there is no one in Magics's current roster can defend like Shane. For Rox, a center is what they urgently need. Gortat is the perfect candidate. what do you think? I guess Morey had achieved some agreement with Magics earlier, even before mavs' gave the offer to Gortat. if mavs offers the contract to Gortat, Magics would match the offer, and trade with Rox for Shane battier.
I don't think that makes us better. I'd rather go with Hayes/Dorsey this year even if it means missing the playoffs, and then draft a center once Yao returns as a backup. Just my opinion, but I dont want to move Battier unless we are getting a MAJOR piece back.
A S&T of Gortat for Battier isn't likely to happen for at least 2 reasons. - Gortat is getting 34 million over 5 years, which is supposedly (or possibly confirmed to be?) far more than Morey was willing to pay. I don't think taking Battier's money off the books makes Morey (or Les) anymore likely to overvalue and overpay. - Orlando can't S&T Gortat until December 15th, so even if they were interested, it wouldn't be happening anytime soon.
Are you seriously on drugs? Gortat is highly overated... Battier is one of the best defenders in the league. Lay off the weed dude. Maybe trade Brian Cooks a** back there for Gortat.
I think that the only way we would trade Battier is if we get involved in a big deal that has major players involved. Other than that, I just can't see us trading Battier, a veteran who you know will give you solid production, for Gortat, an unproven young player who doesn't see starting minutes due to Dwight Howard.
Ah Steven Orgy, one of my favorite posters ... I dont think we should be THAT desperate for a C. Shane, if your reading this thread, I apologise on behalf of Clutchfans, you are the heart and soul... and I've barely heard of this Gortat fellow either.
Morey said that we would trade for a center, trade with NY....Curry, for McGrady....it works. Curry may be a scrub but what other legit option is there?
Gortat's contract is a steal when you consider what most big men make. He's also five years younger than Shane and just the right age for a rebuilding team. As to being overrated, you have to take his salary into account. For the MLE, he's a bargain. I'd trade him for Battier in a heartbeat. As for your childish trash talking, it won't win you any arguments around here. Try making your points like an adult and you stand a better chance of being listened to.
no no no no no no no no no. you don't trade shane for gortat. you wouldn't even consider it. i don't even need to explain why.
Im against the idea of trading Battier, Id prefer him to stick around and give Ariza some tips and coaching on how to be a better defender. Ariza would improve so much with a guy like Battier around to give him tips. In saying that Battier is most likely on the way out, id like to see him go to a championship contending team if he does, so the Magic would fit that mould I guess.
This proposed trade is useless.Gortat is overrated. DM should keep on looking for a possible Battier trade, but unless he gets a really good young player,he should keep him. Ditto for Luis. We need to rebuild.
