his exact quote was, "Listen, the Boston Celtics are not giving that lead back. The Lakers are not giving that lead back. And Cleveland is not giving that lead back,” Houston forward Shane Battier said. “Those are the three teams we’re chasing right now and if we ever want to get on their level, we need to do what they do."

Totally agree with him , maybe the quote of the yr. How this will be solved:
    -reliable backup for Yao
-getting Tracy and Ron to stop taking horrendous shots and getting to the ft line.
-Stop playing to win, and just keep running offense. This is how we lost to Spurs, and Pacers.

Rockets need a reliable rebounder. Someone like Matt Bonner or Eric Dampier.

Battier needs to start with himself.

Well a first step would be to find refs who A) don't fall for flops that remove Yao from the game resulting in the run that made us lose that lead and B) realize that Yao was fouled more than once during the game.

Those layups don't happen if Yao didn't have to leave the game, and that's most of their comeback right there.

Battier is right though, we do have problems with this every now and then. We need someone to step up in those situations. T-Mac, though he had a decent game, looked tired. Hopefully he's able to be more assertive in future games, but the biggest key is having Yao to feed it to down the stretch.

He's including himself in the comment and the remark is spot on.

The 1st suggestion is unlikely to materialize.
    The other 2 are fixable.

seems like battier knows what he's talking about, more than us. if they understand, then there's more hope that they'll win more games.

Rockets stay healthy, they will reach that level of dominance.

What exactly is Shane Battier doing to give back leads?

When his shots don't fall ala against the Clippers the lead gets compromised. I'm not blaming only him because everyone is responsible for it.

the lakers aren't exactly playing terrific ball as of late and the cavs haven't really beaten many quality teams.

the celtics look like the only team he mentioned that is actually very well.

Shane is the most mature player on the team. When he's not on the roster we look inexperienced and boneheaded. This comment is ridiculous. It represents what's wrong with several posters. People cry for a someone to be a leader, then heckle and call out the players that say the right thing. Turn off your monitor and jump back under your covers before your mom finds out you're up past your bedtime.

Unsmart play and poor defense give up big leads. Shane is seldom responsible for either.

That's no comfort for us. The Rockets play a few quality games and then barely get through some games themselves. Even in games like against the Hawks when we started off really hot, there was a 22 point game change. Everyone knows that other teams will make a run,but inconsistency can and does prove fatal.
