For those of you who know him on here, he had his leg and ankle broken pretty severely in a cab hit and run. The hospital in Amsterdam won't do surgery and are flying him back to the states to do that. He posted on Facebook that they are teaching him how to give HIMSELF shots in the stomach I assume for the pain on the flight back. Send him your thoughts!
Wow, I hope everything goes well for him, or as well as can be expected. I hope they fry the bastards that did the hit and run.
Thanks, Jeff. I have a hard time getting online here (I have to get a wheelchair and go downstairs), but I appreciate all the kind thoughts. I wish the hospital was actually flying me back but all they're doing is discharging me. I have to find myself a flight and will probably need first class as I'm in a cast and my foot needs to be elevated. I'm going to try to get on a plane tomorrow. I can't wait to get back home.
Wow They won't do surgery? Hope everything goes well and he gets back here in...no more than 3 pieces? (sorry) Yikes. Get well dude.
was your trip cut short because of this? that would be a bummer. sorry to hear this dude. Get well soon. (I thought shots in the tummy were for rabies? )
That is a real bummer. It must suck to be in that much pain, have your trip end this way, and have to wait to get back home. Very sorry that happened to you. I was just thinking this past weekend how cool the trip sounded.
Why won't the hospital do surgery? Is it an insurance issue or something? Sorry if the questions are personal, you don't need to answer if you don't want to. Get better man.
Thanks, everyone. The shots in the stomach are apparently for strombosis. I don't know why they won't do surgery. I have insurance. But I can't get a straight answer out of anyone. They told me earlier today that they didn't do it right away because they were too busy. Then they told me tonight that I should just go get it done in America. No explanation and no doctor available to explain.
What a terrible situation to be in! I hope your return goes smoothly, and I hope you get all fixed up and better real quick like! So I take it you're injecting Lovenox (or some similar blood thinner)... It will definitely help - the last thing you want is a blood clot screwing everything up on top of everything that's gone wrong. I had to take them for a week after my hip surgeries. Not fun, but better than the alternative!
